All clips in the timeline unlinks when using Q or W shortcuts. Modified Audio (Stereo to 2 channel Mono)

Multiple Mac devices, MacOS versions and multiple Premiere Pro versions, this issue has been persistent. My whole project gets unlinked while working with modified audio channels and it unlinks absolutely everything, not just the modified ones. Finally I decided to record a session and post it here in hopes of someone from adobe seeing this. I was using the Q ripple trim shortcut here in the video.

This is not a device, OS or Premiere version problem. Again, I’ve changed and updated many of those. This bug persists like nothing I’ve seen. I’ve posted this issue here before, I just had people asking me stuff.

 

In short: When I use stereo → 2 channel mono files in the project, the project starts randomly unlinking itself when I use the QW shortcuts. This also unlinks the other, unmodified clips as well.

One thing that I noticed is this only happens after the projects gets bigger. Not for the first few 8-10 hours of editing. But later. Which kinda makes it worse in a way.

    Hi, I have experienced this so many time too.  Just happened again.  Spent 15 min relinking everything up to the 27 min mark in my cut.  Everything beyond this point in the timeline has remained as a linked selection.  

    And yes as noted above my project is getting bigger with more stills and archive coming in.

    ​@Philippa Byers Sorry to hear that! We’d like to investigate this further and were unable to recreate our side yet, so I’ll ask for some additional details below.

    • What is the exact Premiere version and build you’re using? 
    • Please specify Windows or macOS, along with the OS/chip type if Mac or if Windows are you win11/10 and what driver version/build?
      • GPU Driver (Windows only): Please let us know your video card driver version. We recommend updating to the most recent version; for NVIDIA users, we strongly recommend the Studio version of the driver.

    Screen Recording: If possible, include a recording of your screen showing the issue as that’s very helpful.

    For additional context:

    • Does it affect all projects or only some?
    • Does it affect new, empty projects?

    Importantly, would you be willing to provide a simplified project with a couple clips doing this as a sample? We can even provide a private Dropbox upload link for this. Let us know, and I’ll be happy to DM you that.

    Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums and giving us those two helpful screen recordings about your issue with unlinking with Modified Audio Channels. My M3 Max Mac on Tahoe 26.6.2 with Premiere 26.5 has yet to recreate the issue, but there may be a step I'm missing. It could also be your additional note of it taking a few 8-10 hours of editing before it shows up.

    Would you be willing to provide a simplified project with a sample clip or two that’s definitely been doing this unlinking issue? I can even send you our Dropbox upload link to make that easier. Let me know.

    I’d like to try to confirm a few details though I did read you mentioning it happening over the course of a few years, many versions Premiere, different setups. So thinking about the very last time it did this to you, what computer/Premiere were you on? I believe I ran across what could be a similar issue, although yours involved modifying and some time passing before it happens.

    Were you on Mac (and what macOS/chip type) or PC (whether Windows 11/10, plus what driver version & build), what version & build of Premiere are you using, how’s your media stored (NAS/External)? We do often ask that info because we try to match the environment to recreate the issue.
