An annoying issue arises when importing .mxf video files from professional cameras—specifically those that have been transferred into folders on a hard drive—using the Media Browser.
I’m not sure if this is a bug, but I typically create folders on my hard drive and move video files into them from my memory cards—for instance, one folder for interviews and others for B-roll or main footage. Today, I encountered a strange situation: I had moved several videos into their respective folders and also copied an entire "CONTENTS" folder from another memory card. When I tried to import this material via the Media Browser, the program would only open the "CONTENTS" folder; the other folders on the hard drive didn't even appear. I tried resetting my Adobe Premiere preferences, but that didn't help. The solution turned out to be deleting the "CONTENTS" folder, which then allowed me to import the videos from the folders I had created myself. It seems the Media Browser was refusing to open any folder other than "CONTENTS"—deleting that folder was the only way to get the Media Browser to "see" the other directories. It appears that importing the full "CONTENTS" folder from a memory card prevents the Media Browser from recognizing other folders on the hard drive.
