Audio Issue in Premiere Pro 25.4.0

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a frustrating issue with Premiere Pro version 25.4.0 — there is no audio playback at all, in any project. I had previously encountered this exact problem with earlier version 25 updates, so I rolled back to version 24, where everything worked perfectly.

Today I updated again to 25.4.0 hoping the issue would be resolved, but the same problem is back: no audio output whatsoever, even though everything else in the timeline plays fine.

What I’ve tried:

  • Audio hardware settings are correctly set (same as in version 24).

  • Cleared cache.

  • Reset preferences.

  • Checked all track mutes, volume levels, and audio meters (no levels showing during playback).

  • Tried both new and existing projects.

My system specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K @ 3.60GHz

  • RAM: 32 GB

  • Storage: 954 GB SSD (SPCC), 238 GB SSD (TRM M100), 1.82 TB HDD

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB)

  • OS: Windows 64-bit, x64-based processor

Is anyone else facing this issue in version 25.4.0? Any ideas on a workaround or fix? It’s odd that audio works perfectly when I revert to version 24, but not in the latest one.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @nepal_3157

Along with the audio hardware settings mentioned by Ann, can you provide a project file and any screen recordings or screengrabs of the audio settings and what you are experiencing? Do you have any of the files you are using that you can share with us? I would also ask if you noticed this in 25.3 or if it just started as soon as you updated to 25.4.

Here to help

What are your audio hardware settings?
