Audio Recording keeps crashing after update to 26.5 / AJA io 4k plus / macOS

Hi, 

we use Premiere for voice recording on a Mac Studio running macOS Tahoe. Io 4K Plus is connected via thunderbolt. Latest firmware, latest (v18) Aja driver.

 

After we upgraded to 26.3.2 from v25, Premiere crashed after finishing a voice recording clip. 
It was stable and reliable on Premiere 25. 

 

We noticed in the release note that a related bug was fixed in 26.5. So we upgraded again ~25 seats. 

However after upgrading to 26.5 Premiere continues crashing occasionally.

 

This is annoying and frustrating - we have to produce a daily news show broadcasted live on TV. 

What can we do to make it reliable again?

      Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums and giving us those details about that AJA audio recording issue. When you say Premiere crashes, do you get a crash report you can send in or are you force quitting? If it crashes with a report again, enter your email in the blank before sending so engineers can try to look up that to see what’s going on.

      1) May we ask which exact build you’re using on v26.5?
      There’s an issue I recall that actually involved v25 that was fixed for v26.5, but with a different AJA hardware and setup. Still sounds familiar based on what you’ve said so far. If you happen to recall which build from v25 was stable, do let us know as well. 

      2) Does each crash happen right when recording finishes and Premiere is inserting the new voiceover clip?

      If able to, what happens if you temporarily select a different audio output device and does that crashing issue still persist? A short screen recording might also be useful to show exactly what is happening.

      Hi, thanks for the reply.

      1. We use 26.5.0 Build 99
      1. Exactly. Premiere will crash (occasionally) after voiceover finishes and right before the clip would be inserted in the timeline.

      We cannot select a different audio output because of signal routing (speaker needs to see video and hear sound in his booth.)

      We cannot trigger the issue on purpose. There’s no known pattern when it happens. 

      We will try to create screen recording and email the error report on Monday. We used to just cancel the error-report because we needed to continue working quickly.

        ​@Exuberant_Captain34a2 That would be very helpful to have a short screen recording and definitely DM me Monday with the email address entered in the blank on that report and even approximate time it was sent, if able. 

        That’s okay about the other audio output, no worries. Sounds like it is intermittent then and similar to the issue reported that I was considering likely here, especially now that I can confirm your build is past the one that should have been fixed.

        I’ll check for that back on Monday, then.
