Audio Track Mixer Automation mode jumping to Touch

I have a suspected bug that is making the Audio Track Mixer default to Touch mode, instead of Read.

This is troublesome because if a track is temporarily muted, a mute keyframe is added to the timeline. This requires navigating through the keyframe dropdown on each audio track, finding the track keyframe option, and finding and deleting all the mute keyframes.

If I have the mixer pabel open in my workspace, I can watch it switch back to Touch any time I click anywhere outside of Premiere, then back into the mixer panel.

The default should be Read, but no matter how many times I reset it, save my project, and save my workspace, I encounter the problem.

MacOS Monterey, 12.3.1

Will your team fix this issue in this decade? Or you just don't know what is the reason of this issue? Be honest brother.

Well, it's 2025 and this is still an issue. Touch randomly toggles on even though I set everything to OFF when starting a project. Very frustrating.

Meanwhile, I have found a crude workaround. For me, it is track one and master track that keep jumping to touch. So I don't use track one and minimize track height for audio track one. I don't make adjustments on the master track. Helps to keep my blood pressure down.

Almost June 2024 and I'm still running into this very problem!

This issue is still a very big problem for me, and I am up-to-date on my software currently running 24.3.0 on Windows 11.

Honestly if it were any kind of easy to just pull up all active keyframes like you can do in AfterEffects, I would be less irritated at this bug, but it can become incredibly hard to find what has changed and started creating keyframes. For example I had one instance of a compressor running on one of my dialogue tracks and the audio track mixer jumped to Touch as some point and recorded the Bypass on and off, I guess while I was toggling to hear the difference. After feeling baffled when I saw no parameters changing in the gain or compression, I eventually just went full troubleshoot-mode and when methodically thorugh every parameter of every plug-in until I found it.

Like I've seen posted in a couple other comments here, the worst is when you are finished your project and miss one of these Touch instances and it reaches client by the time you find out. I spend time reviewing exports so usually I catch them before they send, but in larger quantity projects these can get missed considering it's such a weird and inconspicous bug.

Pleeaasssee fix this!

Premiere 2024 fixed this problem. Appreciate the fix. Wish it was sooner.

Also happens to me for a long time now. May be since 2020 or earlier.

Track jumped to Touch > manually changed to Read > switch to another application > switch back to Premiere > SEEING it just to Touch by itself!

Hi all,

I read the bug report and I wanted to thank everyone for contributing. I apologize on behalf of Adobe for the issue; it's a big let down. I will continue to advocate for the fix and will make sure the bug is addressed ASAP. I will add the comments to the internal bug right now. Sorry again for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin
