Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced incorrect sequence settings when importing sequences from Avid MediaCentral into Premiere Pro using the MediaCentral Panel plugin?

imported Sequence shows Custom/ProRes/Progressive instead of AVC-Intra 100 1080i/Upper First.

Steps describing how to encounter the bug

  1. Transcode agency feed using Telestream Vantage to MXF Op-Atom (AVC High 4:2:2 Intra, 1080i25)
  2. Ingest transcoded files into Avid MediaCentral Production Management
  3. Create sequence in Avid MediaCentral from ingested clips
  4. Open Premiere Pro and connect via MediaCentral Panel plugin
  5. Import sequence from MediaCentral into Premiere Pro
  6. Check sequence settings in Premiere Pro

The problem:

When the sequence arrives in Premiere Pro, the settings are completely wrong:

Setting Expected What We Get
Editing ModeAVC-Intra 100 1080iCustom
Preview FormatAVC-Intra Class 100QuickTime
Preview CodecAVC-Intra Class 100Apple ProRes
Field OrderUpper FirstProgressive

Dear Bruce Bullis,

thank you for taking time to investigate, we have been updating with avid support for a year now and its only response is to update the plugin every few months with no progress, the attached aaf files is sample pulled from avid folder structures

I have been consulting with chatgpt and it highlighted 2 issues :
1- level 4.1 in comparison to level 5 to compesate to 100mbps
2- Scan Type: MBAFF (Interlaced, Upper First) not compatible with adobe/panasonic standard for interlace
Would those 2 concerns have major impact on adobe detecting the correct scan type

attached in the link 2 aaf files

Hello Rami,

Behind the scenes of step 5, the Avid panel exports the MediaCentral-created sequence to AAF, for import into PPro. It sounds as though the settings making it into that AAF, and/or PPro's interpretation of those settings, depart from those of original sequence, created in step 3.

Has Avid been able to help?
Is this a new media format / workflow, or did this workflow previously work fine?
Have you tried a current PPro release? 🙂 We've fixed a couple of AAF-related issues during 25.x.

Can you provide an example intermediate .aaf file, generated by the Avid panel? [Even without media, that'd tell us what sequence settings are in the AAF.]

HI @Rami Hanna
Welcome to the Community Forums, and thanks for reaching out.  Can you please give the exact version and build number of Premiere?  I would also check if there is an update to the plugin from the plugin's developers.
