Bug

Issue - On January 23, 2025, I exported two videos and uploaded one onto an external site called Brightcove. On January 24, producers reported playback issues with the exported video and the other was an issue rendering and uploading onto Brightcove. The issues with the first video had a bug were the video freezes for around 10 seconds without audio then plays on again. For the other video Brightcove was having a difficult time rendering and transcoding the video to allow playback and multiple different people tried uploading this same video but got the same result. I tried exporting the video many times trying different exports and sequence settings, but each time I kept getting an extra file labeled the same name as my sequence with an “.mp4_00_” at the end and no luck uploading the video to Brightcove. I’m not sure if the “.mp4_00_” file has something to do with warning that video file may be corrupted. This whole time I was working from an online server. Our server is a Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance that uses RAID drives to store data and media from our shoots. It's a hard drive but also uses an IP address that can only be accessed by using the appointed network in our studio. With the IP you can access the server remotely and access that media via cloud on a web browser. My workstation is located outside of the studio across the hall, which is outside of where our Wi-Fi network lives. My Wi-Fi connection is noticeably weaker than our other editor that is located inside the studio control room, but up to this point my exports previously had not been an issue. What I decided to do what transfer the media to my local hard drive and export from there and that solved the issue for both videos as far as exports and uploading onto Brightcove along with not getting the “.mp4_00_” file to come with it at the end of the exports. I would like to understand this issue better and hope to gain insights.

Adobe Premiere Pro version number: Version 25.1.0 (Build 73)

Operating system – Mac Mini macOS 15 Sequoia 15.2

System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:

  • 10-Core CPU
  • 16-Core GPU
  • 32GB
  • Synology Network Attached Storage appliance that uses RAID drives to store media & data from shoots. The way I access the media & data is through an IP address that can only be accessed by using the appointed network in the studio.

Video format: Apple ProRes 422

Workflow details: All footage I’m working with is being recorded onto Black magic hyperdeck studio pro device that is using SSD drives. From there we are downloading the footage to the Synology NAS using FileZilla with the IP address attached to each recording device. From there is where I import the footage to the project in Adobe Premiere. Each sequence in premiere has a “No Fields (Progressive Scan)” in the fields section as well.

Steps to reproduce - (Very important!)

  1. Command+M to go to export screen
  2. Export settings: Match Source Adaptive – High Source Bitrate H.264
  3. Send to Media encoder
  4. Click play to start export

Expected result – Video file should’ve been exported without the extra file with same name as sequence but ending in “.mp4_00_” and video file shouldn’t have any bug.

Actual result - The video file was also getting a document file with the same name but ending in “.mp4_00_” in the same folder exported to.

I noticed that when I went into the Premiere Settings under "Memory" and reduced the "RAM reservied for other applications" down to 4GB from the the previous default (6 GB). Now most of my exported HVEC mp4 videos complete the first time. If not, I reboot and reexport successfully.

This sounds suspiciously exactly the failed video exports I've been struggling with for weeks (as well as several coworkers who have slightly different hardware). Here's my setup:

Adobe Premiere Pro version number: Version 25.1.0 (Build 73)
Operating system – MacBook Pro macOS 15 Sequoia 15.3.1
System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
• Apple M2 Max
• 32GB

I have a network cable connection to our shared Network Storage Drive but I'm not sure the specs, I'd have to ask IT Monday.

Thank you @Kevin-Monahan for all the feedback. Other than the two options you listed would another alternative be improving my computer's WiFi connection by either connecting by ethernet or being closer to the router?

It sounds like the receiving end may be experiencing packet loss or some kind of data loss over your admitedly weak connection. I would use a hardware or sneaker net your material for upload and see if that resolves your issue. I hope so!

Cheers,
Kevin

Hello @Kevin-Monahan

As far my network setup goes i'm wirelessly connected to studio Wi-Fi across the hall, which is a TP-Link AC1750. I'm currently getting 206.47 download mbps and 100.89 upload mbps. From this Wi-Fi I can connect to the server remotely which is our NAS applicance that I can access the media. As far as the Sharing and Permissions it is setup as I have the privilege to "Read & Write" and for everyone else it is "No Access."

I hope this was good information and if you need anything else please let me know.

Thank you,

Edwin

Hi @Kyle35455471ouu6,

Thanks for the reply. I wass speaking with my colleagues and one said, "I used to have this issue on any editing platform with NAS exports where you dont have the proper network configuration set up or the folder permissions enabled for the media file location or destination." Can you detail your network setup and permissions?

I hope the advice helps determine a possible solution for you and your team. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello @Kevin-Monahan

My workflow is I export the file onto the server online and play it back from the server. My Adobe projects are also saved and live in the server. I only use a local machine I'm assuming you're talking about a hard drive, only if needed and I have any issues with exporting.

Thank you for reaching out.

Hello @Kyle35455471ouu6,

Thanks for the post. I’m Kevin from Adobe support, a moderator here.

How is the workflow if you export the file locally and play it back on a local machine? I think the team may want to know about that behavior before troubleshooting your delivery pipeline issues.

I hope the community or the team will respond shortly. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,

Kevin
