Constant unwanted focus jumps from Timeline to Source monitor, and Program monitor showing different clip than the one selected in Timeline

In my Adobe Premiere Pro 2026 there are constant unwanted random focus jumps from the Timeline to the Source monitor, and the Program monitor regularly shows a different clip than the one selected on the Timeline. I’m not using complicated edits with lots of layers, just basic editing.

This has happened on Adobe Premiere Pro 2025, on different Macs, on a brand new computer, and always with the latest OS.

I would appreciate a solution to this problem and to get this bug to be fixed as soon as possible.

Do you edit with your mouse? If yes, be aware of that if you double click on a clip in the Timeline the clip will open in the Source panel and thus move the focus from the Timeline to the Source panel. If the mouse is too sensitive it is very easy to trigger a double click without knowing it.

If that´s the case, adjust the double-click speed in your OS and set it slower than it is today.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I’ve changed the Double-click speed in Pointer Control to medium and tested it both with using the trackpad and using the mouse, and it seems to have solved both problems! Thank you very much for your help!

Are you using any keyboard taps that Premiere thinks are for opening another panel? As there are keyboard shorts built-in to jump to specific panels that a lot of users really don’t know about. I’ve seen this happen to others before.

As to showing a different clip than the one selected on the timeline, where’s the CTI?

Thank you for your reply. I usually just click on the other panel when I need to go into it, but this was happening without me clicking or pressing any key. This phantom focus jumping seems to have been resolved now with decreasing the Double-click speed.

The CTI is always on the clip I want to work on in the Program monitor. With decreasing the Double-click speed it now selects the correct clip as well.
