Corrupt Application Root File(s)

Hi there,

Recently I updated to Premiere 26.5.1. Upon opening it for the first time, the Finder informed me that there was something wrong with the file and the application could not be opened. The Finder suggested I move the application to the Bin.

I promptly reinstalled it, alas to the same message when I tried to open the fully reinstalled application.

I am currently reinstalling the latest LTS version; this major issue is thankfully not affecting my work and I am found once again grateful that Adobe has made every older version easily accessible.

    Hi @Gill22774466t8ja,

Welcome to the Premiere forums. Thank you for reporting this occurrence. Can you please confirm your system specs for the team?

    • Operating System: Specify Windows or macOS, along with the version.
      • Chip (Mac Only): Specify which M-series Chip or CPU/GPU combo.
      • GPU and Driver (Windows only): Please let us know your video card and driver version. We recommend updating to the most recent version; for NVIDIA users, we strongly recommend the Studio version of the driver.

In the meantime, can you please try the following?

    • If on Mac:
      • Uninstall Priemere using Creative Cloud,
      • Then removed the Adobe Premiere Pro 2026 folder and its contents in the Applications folder.
      • Restart, Reinstall Premiere Pro using Creative Cloud, and restart
    • If on Windows:
      •  Uninstall Priemere using Creative Cloud.
      • Manually remove the leftover Premiere Pro 2026 folder
        • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\ and delete the Adobe Premiere Pro 2026 folder and its contents.
        • Check C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ for any leftover Premiere-related folders,
      • Restart your PC, then open Creative Cloud and reinstall Premiere Pro 2026.
      • Restart your PC once more before opening Premiere Pro.

Please let the team know if this helps.

    Best,

    Jonathan
