Corrupt file when rendering exactly 9 seconds

Hello,

I encountered a problem I've never seen before. I want to render an exactly 9 seconds long MXF file, using the ARD-ZDF HDF01a-1.1 Profile preset.

The timeline consists of one 9 seconds long mov file, that I want to convert to mxf. The rendering itself is no problem and I can also open the file with the VLC player, but not with quicklook. The broadcaster also reported the file as corrupt. The same thing happens when goings directly through media encoder.

The funny thing is, that if I add one black frame to the timeline or render one frame less (00:00:08:24), the file works perfectly fine. I can open it in quicklook and broadcasters have accepted it. It's only the exact 9 seconds that's not working.

When asking the broadcaster what the problem was, they told me that it is a key length value failure, that can simply happen during the render, but for me it happens with every 9 seconds render 🥲

Has anybody every encountered a problem like this before? We tried to render it on multiple iMacs and in different premiere versions, everytime the same issue. I also deactivated smart rendering, as this was the suggestion from the broadcaster, but it's also not working.

My iMac specs:
Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020
3,8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7

AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB
32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

macOS: Sonoma 14.1.2

And these are my default programm version atm:
Premiere: 24.1.0
Media Encoder:  23.6

Does anybody know what else I could try? 😵‍💫 Cache has also be deleted.

Best,
kelly

Thanks for the files!

We're tracking the issue as DVAFM-8596, and will keep you informed of our progress.

The simplest path to transcoding a project item, without introducing all the complexities of sequence rendering: Context-click on the project item, and choose 'Export Media'.

Hello Bruce,

Thanks for the quick reply. I apploaded the files to the link, as well as the document we received from the broadcaster regarding the corrupt file.

The project is only consisting of the video file and a corresponding timeline as you will see - I only used premiere after transcoding via Media encoder didn't work.

Thanks in advance!

The same thing happens when goings directly through media encoder.

Rendering a sequence in PPro, and transcoding a media file in AME, are two very different processes; very strange that they would produce the same result.

I've sent you a link to some upload space; can we have the project, the source media, and the .epr file you're using, that produce the "corrupt" MXF? [Also...what tool tells them it's corrupt?]
