Crossfades don't work on audio clips on tracks with effects

Dialogue clips with Constant Power fades on them are clipping, but only on audio tracks with effects on them. When I move the clips off of tracks with effects, the fades work.

I have the following effects to dialogue tracks on A1 & A2 in Audio Track Mixer: DeNoise, Parametric Equalizer, and Dynamics.

Having these effects on the tracks is VERY helpful for quickly mixing, so I want to keep them AND for the fades to work. Rendering audio doesn’t solve. Any idea how to fix?

Hi Katie - can you listen again? In this recording, you can clearly hear clipping happening during the transitions of the two clips while they are on A1. Once I move them down to A3, the clipping disappears (the fades actually work).

Here are my settings for the Dynamics effect.

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums and reporting about this issue by including those helpful details. Hmm, that shouldn’t be happening.

Our team tested in both v26.2.2 and the latest of v26.3.2 to see if we could recreate this, and in both versions, it was working as expected and no clipping. I wonder if you clear out any audio previews, since you mentioned rendering, as sounds like something may have went wonky in those? Was it happening prior to that to prompt you to render I take it?

After clearing previews and Adobe cache, you could relaunch and try playback again in v26.2.2. You could also try upgrading to v26.3.2 in case that clears the issue.

Have you seen this issue happening in your other projects? All of them?

If you were to make a brand new project and ingest just two of those clips to attempt having those effects together with constant power, does the issue persist as well? That might help to know.

Hi - I cleared the audio previews and Adobe Cache and tried playback again - same issue. It doesn’t happen every time. It happened again when I started a new project and pulled these clips into it. Here is a video of the problem.

@Christina27152685lv9w Thank you for trying that. The screen recording is helpful to see exactly what’s going on. So on A1 you’ve put the same audio effects, and yes moving it down tracks to where there’s no effects is different due to no effects. I am not hearing it necessarily smoother there than above however, or any clipping with pops or clicks.

Can you clarify for us what sentence you’re trying to get here with these two clips? What we’re hearing is “they see the” with an intentional gap between, then it continues to the next clip “they pull it from” (pardon if misheard which exact words)

It’s feeling sudden on the transition there with the shorter transition and may benefit from more breathing room on the constant powers, perhaps less or no gap at all may give you the result you’re looking for. It may also help if you try to add room tone and cross fade that in to feel less abrupt.

Wonder too, what’s your Dynamics look like with regards to ‘Gate’ - see screenshot. That could be creating extra cutoff than intended but seeing actual settings would be helpful there.

Give that a go and let us know if that helps! If you have any other examples, feel free to attach here and we’ll take a looksee.
