Drag-and-drop into Essential Graphics placeholders broken in 25.4 / 25.4.1 (works in all earlier ver

Product/version: Adobe Premiere Pro 25.4 and 25.4.1 (buggy). All earlier versions (≤25.3) work correctly.

OS/Hardware: macOS Sonoma (Apple Silicon/Intel), RAM [ ], GPU [ ].

Issue:

In 25.4 and 25.4.1, dragging media into Essential Graphics media placeholders no longer works.

Expected behavior:

Dragging a file from Finder or the Project panel onto a placeholder should replace the media.

Actual behavior (25.4/25.4.1):

  • Drag-and-drop: Fails silently (ignored).

  • Replace from Finder (right-click → “Replace with Clip” / or using the file picker): ✅ Still works normally.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a project with a MOGRT that has a media placeholder.

  2. Select the graphic in the timeline so the placeholder shows in Essential Graphics.

  3. Drag a PNG, JPG, or MP4 from Finder or Project panel into the placeholder.

  4. Nothing happens (in 25.4/25.4.1).

  5. Roll back to ≤25.3 → drag-and-drop works normally.

Notes:

  • Regression introduced in 25.4.

  • Verified on multiple file types.

  • “Replace from Finder” dialog still works — so only drag-and-drop is broken.

Impact:

Breaks the fastest MOGRT workflow. Users are forced into slower file picker navigation instead of quick drag-and-drop.

Hi @daniels33345895 ,

Thanks for your report. This is a known issue in 25.4. Please downgrade to 25.3 to continue with your workflow.

The fix is available in the beta starting in 25.6.0x17.

Thanks,

Theresa
