Drone Footage Choppy/Not Playing in Timeline and/or Exported Files

  • Issue – Previously had no issues with the drone footage on my sequence that I'm editing, but with the recent updates of 25.6.2 and 25.6.3, all other footage/audio will play normally except for drone footage (MP4 format). While playing the video the drone sections will freeze, become choppy, or not play at all. I tried exporting the video, changing the versions of Premiere, clearing the media cache, and changing out the files and they will not work. Confirmed files are functional as they will play elsewhere.
  • Steps to reproduce  Drone footage on timeline, hit play, video continues progressing but footage does not change until a different camera clip comes on.
  • Expected result  Video should play as normal on the timeline as any other clip on the sequence.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version – Tried both on 25.6.2 and 25.6.3 - original project was started on 25.6 and was working at that time.
  • Operating system – Windows 11 Home
  • GPU driver version (Windows only) – Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050
  • Video format  H.264 UHD Sequence, the footage that is freezing is MPEG Movie, MP4, Rec 709 23.79 frame rate (matches sequence), HEVC 10 bit 4:2:0, file size is roughly 221 MB total

I'm also experiencing this. It seems to affect only my drone footage (from a DJI Mavic pro 2). Also cleared media cache and even exported footage using a ProRes codec. Issue still persists inside premiere.

Yes, cleared the media cache and it's still freezing up, only on drone clips, not other cameras.

And I presume you've dumped all cache files as part of troubleshooting?
