Dupe Detection DOESN'T work for stills

hi, I know this is a known issue, but it's still not fixed so here we go again - 

making a documentary, have a million photos, slap photos on timeline to skim thorugh them faster, but there is NO dupe detection on photos, so I cannot tell what i have used, or if some of the source folders have repeat media in them.
