Edit Original Function has either changed or is broken

Edit Original function has changed or is broken.  the edit original function is a tool that I use more than any other tool in Premiere.  I am an editor who works with peripheral applications such as After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.  When I Edit Original on a rendered clip from an After Effects program, as long as the clip name is the same as the composition it was rendered from, Premiere will open that exact After Effects composition.  That has all changed to where now, it can only be a dynamically linked comp in Premiere in order to perform this function correctly. Now, (since updating) If I Edit Original on a rendered clip, Premiere will open Quicktime.  This, as you may be aware, is extremely counter-intuative.  Because I work with several editors and assistant editors on my projects, I cannot use linked comps. They absolutely must be rendered out before putting them in Premiere because of the compatibility problems associated with dynamic linking.  I can't assume that all the editors and assistant editors are up to date and/or using the same versions, nor can I assume they have all of my assets.

If this is in fact a bug, then I am bringing it to your attention.  if this is a feature that you have silently deprecated, pleeeeeease fix this.  The idea that not enough people use this feature to justify keeping it with the latest version of CC baffles my mind.  I am extremely skeptical that it would be the case. Please fix.

Hi. I am also having a problem with Dynamic link, on MacOS.  I edit in Premiere and create graphics in After Effects. I've been using Dynamic Link for years and it's been great. I can make small adjustments to my AE composition and see the changes immediately in my Premiere timeline. (This part still works.)

However, when I click on the composition in the Premiere timeline and select Edit Original, it opens in AE but not at the correct position in the timeline. (It simply opens the comp to the position it was last viewed in AE.)

I've searched thoroughly for information on this issue and tried everything that's been suggested but without any success. I had hoped that updating everything, including my MacOS would finally fix the problem but it has not.
Furthermore, this problem first occurred in my MacBook Pro M1Max. After not being able to resolve it, I fired up my M1 MacMini, updated the MacOS and the Adobe Creative Suite, created completely new AE and Premiere projects and I still have the same issue. Am I missing something??

Without synchronization between the Premiere and After Effects timelines, my workflow is wrecked!

If anyone can offer advice on this issue, I shall be immensely grateful. Thank you.

Hi @benjamin_8650
Yes being that it is a production project that may be a factor. Can you make a normal solo project and see if you can then make changes like you want?

Thx, @IanB_360.  I tried to DM you and post the project here but but looks like the file type is not supported.  However I did think of something.  Could this problem be perhaps because this is a "Productions" project?

Hi @benjamin_8650
and welcome to the Premiere Pro Forum community.  Thank you for taking your time to report a problem. I understand this would affect your workflow and perhaps we can help fix that problem for you. If you have any projects or example files that you would want to share with us as an example that would help us see exactly what you are in the workflow you have set up.  If you could provide a project file, a rendered clip from After Effects, the composition it was rendered from and share it through direct message with me , I will start taking a look.
