Error message when launching Premiere with external HDMI screen connected

I'm on Premiere 25.6.2 on an M4 Max MacBook Pro.

When I launch Premiere, I get an error message "Sorry, an error occured." This error message happens twice in a row but I can click "Send report" both times and continue to opening a project.

I've verified that this only happens when I have an HDMI display attached to my MacBook Pro.

I have tried resetting all settings and preferences by holding down a modifier key while launching Premiere. This does not solve the issue.

Yup, that's it. I'll get in touch with them.

Hi @Transposition Films, thanks for re-sending. The report is pointing to Spell Book, do you see this if you uninstall

It would show up here: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/

I'm using it as an extended display.

Yes, oops, used the wrong email. I've sent another report with the same email I'm using here.

Looks like I did have a couple plugins. However, they don't seem to be the issue. I removed them completely and get the same issue when launching Premiere. Same thing when holding down Shift when launching and disabling plugins that way.

Hi @Transposition Films, are you using your HDMI display as an extension or as your only monitor?

No reports came up with your email, did you add your Adobe account email or a different one to the report? I can message you if you used a different one from your Adobe one.

Regarding plugins, on Mac you can check under the following path: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins

You can also check in the Creative Cloud app in the Home tab. There is a Plugins section on the right-hand side.

You can disable some third-party plugins by holding down a modifier key (like 'shift') right on application startup and selecting 'Disable third-party plugins (one time only)' in the Reset options window.

I'm on MacOS 15.6.1. I have a few extensions, but no plugins, as far as I'm aware - how would I be able to check what plugins I might have?

Yes, it happens when I launch Pr without opening or selecting projects.

I've added my email to a Report window.

Hi @Transposition Films

Sorry you've been experiencing issues. What macOS version are you on? Are you using any third-party plugins?

Does this happen when you launch Premiere Pro through the app icon without opening or selecting projects? Or only when opening specific projects?

If you add your email in the Report window before sending, the team can look them up.

Sorry for the frustration,

Dani
