"Export range" keeps changing to 'custom' (setting is no longer 'sticky')

Every flippin’ time I export from my current project, the ‘Range’ automatically switches to ‘Custom’. It keeps exporting much more of the timeline than I want. Even when there’s nothing on the timeline beyond the last clip, it exports several minutes of black. I manually change the export range to ‘Work Area’, but after that single export it changes back to Custom.

This setting used to be sticky. Set it once within a project and it stays that way. Not anymore!!! I need this behaviour to stop. When I export, I only want it to export the Work Area. I need this setting to stay the way I set it!!!

Adobe Premiere Pro Version 25.6.4 (build 5), zero 3rd party plug-ins

Windows 11, Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 285K 3.70 GHz, 128 GB (127 GB usable), 64-bit operating system, NVIDEA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER

The project I’m having trouble with is within a Production, if that matters.

    Hi @braydon
Is it reverting to custom each time you export a file and then switch back to the edit tab? I noticed, while trying to repo the issue on a Production Project, that even after the first export, if you do not save on the edit tab, the export settings will not save. So check and be sure that after that first export and before you close Premiere to save, then close production. See if that helps at all and let us know.
    Here to help.

    Hi @IanB_360
Thanks for following up. I do know what you mean about fine-tuning all the settings for an export, realizing you need to make a quick change and flicking back to the edit panel, only to lose all the export settings you just prepared. This is not that.

The bug seems to be sequence-specific, and of course it’s not manifesting today, now that the project is finished and I have time on my hands. A bunch of the older sequences show the Custom export range on the Export screen, but not all of them - some have their export range showing Work Area. The newer sequences from yesterday evening have also retained their Work Area export ranges. Perhaps it’s just a bug within a few of those older sequences, where the export range keeps defaulting back to ‘Custom’. I did also notice yesterday whilst exporting from one of those sequences, that if I manually changed the export area from ‘Custom’ to ‘Work Area’, then changed the Export Preset, the export range would flick back to ‘Custom’.

I’ll repost here if new projects start behaving that way, but I’m done with that project now so hopefully whatever was causing it doesn’t carry over.
