Generative Extend "doesn't support this color space"? But my footage is Rec.709.

I'm new to using generative extend. I've been really excited about it, and had been waiting to finish a project so I can update Premiere, and try it out. Disappointed to learn that I'm unable to use it, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

My footage fits the guidelines – its frame rate, resolution, and color space all are as they should be, but I keep getting this error:

Now, my footage has a LUT on it, so I tried removing the LUT, but the same error pops up.

You can see my footage's properties here:

I'm unsure why the tool won't work for me, and would be greatly appreciative of others' insights.

Totally understood. This can at times be ridiculously complicated.

What does MediaInfo show for the file? As that will show full or legal setting.

Shoot, Neil, I don't know! I must admit, I didn't know there was a distinction. I have zero clue! After all these years, and trying to educate myself, color science and pipelines are still a foreign language.

It was captured on the Canon C70. I think you're onto something. I think maybe it was 10-bit footage. I exported it out to ProRes 422 at 8-bit, and Generative Extend did work on that footage.

I'm guessing this probably is 10-bit footage (I'll have to contact the AC to confirm), and that was the issue. I was thrown off, becuase the error Premiere was giving me didn't seem related to the bit-rate, but simply the color space.

And further, is that clip Full or Legal range? If Full, I think that can be an issue, as Rec.709 standards specify legal for range unless the file is an RGB 12bit. All YUV (Y/Cb-Cr) media is supposed to be legal.

Hi lehestro,

Welcome to the community! Could you please confirm which camera was used to capture this media and whether it is 10-bit media?

Thanks,

Sumeet
