Investigating

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro version 26.5.2 (Build 5).When I import video files, the software freezes.

Environment

  • Windows 11 Home 26H2 26300.9711
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) 7 150U (1.80 GHz)
  • Intel(R) Graphics (128 MB)
  • Adobe Premiere Pro Version 26.5.2 (Build 5)

When I import video files, Premiere Pro freezes.

This issue occurs on both of my PCs.

I am working with three MP4 files of approximately 25.5 GB each and one WAV file of 1.71 GB.

Sometimes Premiere works if I import the files one at a time. However, after saving the project, shutting down the PC, and then reopening the project to continue working, Premiere always freezes.

I suspect there is some problem during the media loading process. I have already tried deleting the media cache and disabling hardware decoding, but neither solution had any effect.

I can also provide log files if necessary. Please investigate this issue.

    Hello @Kohichi29012430j5zu

I’ve sent you a private message with an upload link. We would appreciate any log files and if you could supply a Dump file from when your system is freezing, that would be useful. The problematic MP4s and Wav file could also be helpful to identify what’s going on.

    WINDOWS dump file:

    1. Open Task Manager go to the Processes tab, and identify the Premiere process (you can use search to filter for only Premiere)
    2. In Premiere, get it into the hanging/unresponsive state
    3. Switch back to Task Manager and right click on Premiere then choose > Create dump file
    4. When it's finished, it tells you where it saves the .DMP file.
    5. It'll be large, but it ZIPs down smaller. So right click on the file and choose Compress to..ZIP file.
    6. Then, you can DM me and either provide us the link/access to this file or I can send you a link to upload that file, whatever's easiest.

Thank you for posting, hopefully we can figure this out!

    Amy
