Imported media from OBS which contains multiple audio tracks will have all audio tracks besides the first one off by 1 frame.

If you record footage in obs that contains multiple audio tracks and then import that footage into obs, all audio channels but the first one will be offset by exactly 1 frame. This issue does not occur in other editing software and only occurs within adobe premiere pro 26.3.0 (Build 93). Audio remains synced but this causes issues when creating cuts or snapping footage together, as the 1 frame difference will cause clips to not snap together properly.

Same clip in Davinci Resolve, no frame of audio missing, audio is still synced.

Thank you @Rythian for posting and doing a lot of troubleshooting for us.

It can still help us to know some system specs so we can check that any format fixes we make on our end work on different systems. It helps us to know the OS, CPU and GPU specs of your system in addition to the version number of Premiere, thank you for including that.

MKV HEVC is a known issue that we are working on, but MKV H264 is supported as of last year.

Heya, thanks for responding!

I’m on windows 10 (I know windows 10 is no longer supported as of.. well a week or two ago, but I tested on my other machine that is running windows 11 and the issue still occurs), running a AMD 9950x3d cpu, a rtx 3090 gpu, and 64gb of ddr5 6000mhz ram.

Also MKV h.264 is actually the only thing that DOESNT have the issue. Meaning h.264 MOV or MP4 both have the issue. Meaning for the time being, to avoid this issue I’ll have to only use mkv h.264 and not mp4 h.264.

I suspect this issue might’ve been around for awhile, as I’ve found some other reports of it online. But since it’s only 1 frame it might’ve gotten unnoticed by most users who are using OBS recordings. (I did also contact OBS support and they claim it’s not an issue on their end).

Tried with other file formats, and even forcing a constant framerate (even though that was already a constant framerate recording). And the issue still occurs.

Though one last thing to state. If you remux the recording from an mkv to an mp4 for easier editing. You WILL run into the issue again. The only way to not have the 1 frame missing error is to keep your footage as an mkv in h.264.

Same footage from above that was a mkv in h.264, now remuxed into a mp4. Notice the 1 frame of missing audio for all channels that aren’t the first audio channel.

Shall include this as well but here is a comparison between a test clip I just created in mkv which imports correctly into obs, and then that same exact clip recorded by obs but as an mp4. Notice the length changes for unknown reasons.

Heya so I was just about to post more info, but I think I actually found the exact cause! People who run into this issue can temporarily fix it (till premiere puts in a proper fix) by recording to mkv in obs with nvidia nvenc h.264.
Recording in any other container for whatever reason seems to break it, specifically hybrid mp4 (which is the obs default nowadays) does not import correctly into premiere pro! Additionally regular old mp4 will also still break. Only mklv with h.264 imports the additional audio tracks correctly!

Mkv with Nvidia HEVC will not work at all in premiere as it is h.265, though it will import if the file is mp4 or hybrid mp4 (though it will have the audio channel frame missing issue).

I have made sure to also report this to OBS’s discord incase there is anything they can do on their end. But so far they are reporting/claiming that this is something on premiere’s side and not OBS.

Additionally I’ll post these two screenshots showing the previous settings and then the settings that fix the issue. Important to note, that this issue still only occurs in premiere and not other editing software. (Also just to answer your previous question because I realize I forgot to answer it, OBS is recording at a constant 60 fps and not a variable fps).
