Known issue: Inaccuracies in Pause and Filler Filtering and Language Detection in Premiere 26.2 - 26.3

We are aware of an issue in Premiere version 26.2 and 26.3 that causes the transcription feature to detect pauses and fillers with less consistency than in version 26.0, resulting in fewer pauses and fillers filtered in text-based editing. Additionally, sometimes the range of the pause is not accurate enough, leaving too much silence outside of the pause range.

While the new models are better at transcribing multiple languages within a single transcript, the language detection model may occasionally select a suboptimal model, leading to poor quality transcripts. When poor transcription quality is observed, try to manually select the correct language in the transcription dialog, many make corrections if there are not too many, or revert back to version 26.0.

Workarounds and recommendations:

Workaround #1 – manually set the transcription language

1. Double click the offending clip on the timeline or in the project panel to load into the source monitor
2. From the Transcript tab of the Text panel, find the three dots … in the upper right and choose “Re-transcribe clip”
3. The “Create transcription from source media” dialog will appear
4. Choose the correct language, e.g. “English”
5. Select your preference for speaker labeling.
6. Press Transcribe.

This workaround will not address the issue of pause detection. Pauses will need to be manually lifted out if you do not wish to reinstall version 26. Transcripts can still be manually edited to more accurately reflect the source media in the Text Panel as well.

Workaround #2 – Merge Corrected Transcript

1. Transcribe clip and export script as .txt file
2. Edit .txt file either manually or using a 3rd party program to analyze and make corrections.
3. In the Text Panel of Premiere click the 3 dot menu and select “Merge with corrected Transcript.”

Workaround #3 – revert to Premiere Pro 26.0

1. Open Creative Cloud Desktop app
2. Click on All Apps
3. Find Premiere
4. From the three dots on the right, choose Other versions
5. Choose 26.0
6. You will have to re-transcribe any clips transcribed in a later version using the Text Panel 3 dot menu -> Re-Transcribe Clip
