Link Media doesn't work properly

I find it SO hard to make Premiere search the folder I have selected.  Sometimes it will comply and search the folder I have asked it to, but more often than not it will just search any random drive on my computer or cloud space.  I can't seem to figure out its logic.  This is both on my mac at work and my home machine, all versions of PP from at least 2022 to present.

Struggling to relink the media. For example, I know a file will be somewhere in a folder heriarchy, but I won't know exactly where - I select the parent folder I want PP to search, but it will often randomly search somewhere else entirely.  That might even be a completely different disk on my machine.  It seems that there's no sure way to tell PP where to search; sometimes it works, often it doesn't. I've had this issue on 2024 and 2025 release

and welcome to the Premiere Pro Forum community.  Thank you for taking your time to report a problem. The team just needs a little more information to begin troubleshooting. The link here How to Report a Problem , has steps to providing more information about your bug that can help us identify the issue. Are you having to manually relink clips to a project or is Premiere just taking long to scan the media in the project ?
