Locate File does NOT work properly

I will tell Premiere to search in a specific location on a specific disk, but the search WILL NOT respect that, and will search literally every folder of every disk on my computer.  This has been a problem for a while on my Windows 10 workstation and my mac for several versions now.

It shouldn't be this much effort to make PP search where I want it to search.

Hi Dani,

I'm on 25.2.3 currently, but I've had it on previous versions. The workflow changes, but the problem is the same - so right now I'm working off of a lucidlink drive on Windows 10 and the other editor is using a mac, but I used to get the same problem at my last job with a mac pro and just me editing.  It does happen more often with external drives and things like lucidlink, but not exclusively.  In terms of the media it could be literally anything, that doesn't seem to make a difference.  It still happens with the file extension box checked or unchecked.  I'll take a screenshot next time it happens

Hi @Sterphy,

Thank you for reporting a problem and sorry you've been experiencing issues. What version of Premiere Pro are you on currently and what kind of source media are you working with?

Could you provide a few more details about the workflow, like are you working on a project between both the PC and Mac? Where are the files you are trying to locate stored? (Are they on an external drive, your computer, etc?)

Might you be able to share a screenshot of what your Link Media window looks like when this happens? Does this happen if you uncheck the 'File Extension' box under 'Match File Properties' section?

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani
