Make sure you are using the “Pen Mask Tool” which is located in the “Object Mask Tool” flyout.  This got me too, so don’t feel bad it’s not kind of hidden.  Do NOT use the “Pen Tool” (P) as it will not help you at all!

Is this issue happening with all media or only specific sequences or clips? I am curious if it could be related to the frame size of the sequence or media.
It has been reported this issue only occurs with Guides enabled. Is anyone seeing the issue with Guides disabled?

Yeah, I had the same issue. But now after I turned off my guides, I started to see my masks!
But can there be an update soon to fix this? I mean, I want my guides on.

    Hi Adobe Team,

I am experiencing a persistent and frustrating issue with the latest update of Premiere Pro 2026. The mask outlines (paths and anchor points) are completely invisible in the Program Monitor, regardless of the situation or the tool used.

    Problem Details:

    • The mask is created in the Effect Controls panel, and I can see the "Mask 1" listed, but nothing appears on the screen to adjust or move.

    • This happens with all three masking tools (Ellipse, Rectangle, and Pen Tool).

    • I have already ensured that "Toggle Mask and Shape Path" is ON and the mask name is selected in the Effect Controls.

    • This feature was working perfectly in all previous versions of Premiere Pro on the same hardware.

    Hardware Specifications:

    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050.

    • Device History: I have been using this laptop for 9 years without any issues in Premiere Pro until this 2026 update.

This is clearly a software-side bug or a compatibility issue with the new UI/Engine in the 2026 version. Please look into this as it hinders the entire editing workflow.

    Looking forward to your fix.

You created the mask with the Mask Tool from the tool bar?

I have the same issue in March 2026. Whatever tool I use to create mask on whatever object on whatever effect or opacity or “unassigned” - all of them are invisible. I can even see how the mask effects the picture but I can’t see its borders and vertices.

I had to pass the last project to another editor, because this bullshit is not working along with every clip or fullHD image is pending for ages. I don’t need any of this any crap. I NEED A STABLE EDITING SOFTWARE I’M PAYING FOR!
Everything worked fine before 2026 version

I am experiencing the exact same issue.

I am using Premiere Pro version 26.0.1. While smaller files don't seem to have any problems, the mask outlines disappear as soon as I apply a mask to a large video file. Once this glitch occurs, it persists across all video clips in the project.

To be clear, the mask itself functions correctly (it crops the video as intended); however, the outlines and overlay colors used to identify the mask area are completely invisible.

    My PC Specifications:

    • OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2

    • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz

    • RAM: 24.0 GB

    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER (Driver updated: 2025-12-30)

I wish I had an answer. This mask tool sucks. Its great (reportedly) for motion, but if you just need cut a section out, like for Chroma Key its awful. Still trying to figure out why they couldn’t add a feature without removing the way it also worked before. Freaking Adobe...always making everything needlessly complicated
