Masking issues

With the newest update and AI that premiere uses, when I mask a subject it creates an incorrect mask. With the pen masking it won’t let me track the mask properly. I’ve updated all of my drivers, premiere, my laptop (windows Asus Vivobook 15) tried different settings. I’m working with Nvidia as my GPU. It’s up to date. I’ve tried previous version of premiere and it didn’t change anything. NEED HELP.

I used to be really good at masking in Premiere. Now I have no idea how to get it to work right. I waste so much time and then give up and try something else. It’s become so convoluted.

    Premiere: 26.5

    Edition    Windows 11 Home
    Version    25H2
    Installed on    ‎2/‎3/‎2025

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU (6 GB) Studio Driver
    Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics (128 MB)

    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I’ve only tried the masking tool in this one specific project file. It first began about 5 days ago after I downloaded the most recent Premiere update.

No third party plugins are used.

I haven’t had any issue like this with previous versions.

    Hi @Peaceful_friends3809,

Thank you for following up with the specs and a screen record. Could you let us know what version of the Studio Driver you’re using? Are all the drivers up-to-date?

Here is a reference link to GPU and GPU Driver requirement: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/get-started/technical-requirements/gpu-and-gpu-driver-requirements.html

    Hi @Peaceful_friends3809,

Welcome to the Premiere forums. Thank you for reporting this occurrence and providing your some system specs. For the team to try to better assist you, we’ll need more information:

    • What is the exact Premiere version you’re using?
    • Please specify which version of Windows you’re using .(e.g. Windows 11)
      • Similarly, please let us know which video card driver version. We strongly recommend the Studio version of the driver.
    • Can you can confirm if any plug-ins or third-party panels are installed?
    • If possible, can you share a screen recording the moments where this issue occurs?
      • Including numbered steps also helps the team replicate the issue.

    For additional context:

    • Does it affect all projects or only some?
    • Does it affect new, empty projects?
    • When did the problem first begin?
      • Was anything recently updated in your system?
      • Did it ever work as expected on your system?

So sorry for the frustration. The team is here to help.

    Best,

    Jonathan
