Media cache database and media cache files location can't be changed

Please fix this major issue: Every time I set my media cache files and media cache database, when I close and re-open Premiere, it defaults back to internal.

My external drive is always online and so Premiere should see it but it is not.

This causes major slow-downs on my system as going to internal drive can’t keep up while running the software from the same drive. Result: very sluggish playback.

Thanks for looking into this.

Having cache files on any external is problematic simply for transport speed ... those files are used heavily and Premiere needs near instaneous data to and from them. Apparently you have only one internal drive?

Post the specs for your system. And of course, check the permissions and things like …. does any file syncing app have access to the folders you have your cache in, or folders above them? As that also would cause this.

    Everyone's mileage always varies ...

I keep hearing this argument and I know it is for sure nonsense.  The system operates much better with these files on an external drive, not an internal.  Also, I do not need my internal drive being filled up to the point of using up all of the space and getting memory errors (happened many times) and bringing my system to its knees.  I also don’t want to overuse my SSD.

But whether we agree on this or not, the software should not be changing the location that I specify.

Re: my system - Apple M4Max, 64gb ram, 1TB HD, external Raid 5 at 64TB.

No, I don’t have any file synching app.

To reiterate, I believe this is a bug that Adobe needs to address, so that is the goal of my posting.  Nevertheless, thanks for your input.
