Memory leak and white monitor. Impossible to work.

I am using Premiere Pro 2026 (v 26.5.2) and facing a severe memory leak issue; additionally, a white screen appears on the monitor—indicating GPU management problems—without displaying any content.
I am in the final stages of editing a film—a project I’ve been working on for three years without issues like this. However, my nightmare began when I updated Premiere to version 26.3.2. I subsequently updated to 26.5.2, but the problem persisted.
I cannot downgrade because my project is complex and won't open in 2025 versions. Consequently, my last attempt was to import the project into a new file. It works fine initially, but shortly after, the memory leak begins: CPU usage constantly hovers between 80% and 90%, and the PC becomes sluggish and freezes, forcing me to close the program.
Upon reopening the project, the white screen appears with no image, even after audio processing is complete.
I notice that the user interface (UI) is placing an excessive load on both the GPU and CPU.
It is truly impossible to work with Premiere under these conditions.
I hope they release a more stable version—as stable as possible. I am forced to put the project on hold because of this.
By the way, I updated my Nvidia driver after a few attempts to work on the project while dealing with these issues.

My PC specs:

• 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700K (3.40 GHz)
• RAM: 64.0 GB installed (63.8 GB usable)
• Graphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (12 GB VRAM) + Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770
• Storage: 2.28 TB used out of a total of 4.10 TB
• Operating System: 64-bit Windows, x64-based

Hello @mauricionsantos,

Welcome to the Premiere Forums and sorry you’re having this issue. To help narrow down what’s happening, could you share:

  • What camera and footage format are you using? If available, please include the codec, resolution, frame rate, and bit depth or if you’re willing to share a test clip I could DM you a private upload link.
  • When does memory usage start climbing—while the project is idle, during playback, or after a particular effect or operation? Does that happen at the same time as the white monitor?
  • Does the issue also occur in a new, empty project with one of the same clips, or only in this project? Does the white screen affect the Source monitor, Program monitor, or both?
  • Are any third-party plug-ins or effects installed? If so, does the behavior change when you test a copy of the project with them disabled?
  • Are you using external displays? If so, which ones and what resolution are they set to?

Please keep your original project and media unchanged while testing copies.

Hoping we can help,

Amy
