Detailed Bug Report

System Environment:

  • Device: HP OMEN 16-ah0xxx (2026 Model)

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX (Arrow Lake Architecture)

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU (16GB VRAM)

  • RAM: 64GB DDR5 (5600MHz)

  • OS: Windows 11 Home Single Language (Build 26200.8246)

  • Display Setup: Internal 165Hz display + External ASUS VG27AQL1A via HDMI (1440p @ 144Hz)

The Issue: In Premiere Pro v26.2, clicking or hovering over any item on the top menu bar (File, Edit, Clip, Sequence, etc.) causes a significant UI hang/freeze lasting 2 to 5 seconds. This issue is most severe when an external high-refresh-rate monitor is connected.

Observations & Technical Data:

  • Monitoring via Task Manager shows that during the menu click, GPU 0 (Intel Integrated Graphics) spikes to 40-50% utilization, while GPU 1 (RTX 5080) remains at 1-2%.

  • It appears that the UI rendering thread is being incorrectly routed through the iGPU instead of the dGPU, creating a bottleneck on the new Intel Ultra 9 architecture.

  • The issue persists even when Premiere Pro is set to "High Performance" in Windows Graphics Settings.

  • Disabling audio drivers (Realtek) or overlays (MPO) does not resolve the issue in v26.2.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Premiere Pro v26.2 on a system with RTX 50-series and Intel Ultra 9 HX.

  2. Connect an external monitor and set it to 144Hz+.

  3. Attempt to open the "File" or "Edit" menu.

  4. Observe the UI freeze.

Verified Workaround: Downgrading to v26.0.2 completely resolves the issue. In the older version, the menu bar is instantaneous and buttery smooth, confirming a regression in the v26.2 UI rendering engine's handling of hybrid graphics on the latest hardware.

Hi @evoloper -   I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. Can you help answer some questions below:

Do you have any third party plugins or panels installed?

Do you see this issue if you do not have a display connected?

Have you tried creating a new project in version 26.2 and then import your old project?

Can you let us know what your integrated GPU (iGPU) and dedicated (dGPU) driver version is?  You can find this information in device manager > display > iGPU or dGPU > driver tab

To isolate if it is a GPU issue can you navigate to Device Manager > Displays and then disable your

integrated (iGPU) or dedicated GPU (dGPU) one at a time

"Hi! Thanks for the quick response. Here are the details you requested:

    • Third-party plugins: None. This is a clean install of Premiere Pro v26.2.

    • Without external display: The issue is much less frequent on the laptop screen alone, but still present as micro-stutters. It becomes a 2-3 second complete freeze specifically when an external 144Hz monitor is connected.

    • New project import: Yes, I tried creating a brand new project in 26.2 and importing the old assets, but the menu bar lag persisted.

    • Driver Versions:

      • iGPU (Intel Graphics): 32.0.101.8132 (Date: 19-Sep-25)

      • dGPU (RTX 5080): 32.0.15.9579 (Nvidia Studio Driver)

    • GPU Isolation Test:

      • When I disable the iGPU in Device Manager, the menus become responsive again, but obviously, this affects system stability and overall performance on a laptop.

      • When I disable the dGPU, the lag is still there because the iGPU struggles to render the UI on a high-refresh external display.

Note: As a temporary fix, I downgraded to v26.0.2 and the issue is 100% gone. This confirms it’s a UI rendering regression in v26.2 specifically for the new Intel Ultra 9 / RTX 50-series architecture. Hope this helps!"
