Mercury Transmit not sending playback to specific external monitor
Issue: Mercury Transmit would not send playback to a specific external monitor on Display Port after a Premiere crash. The monitor was recognized and selectable in Preferences -- Playback, but no video output was delivered. Other monitors (including another one using a Display Port) could receive Transmit output without issue. The problem persisted across two major versions (v25 and v26), full system restarts, GPU driver reinstalls, and monitor resets.
Ultimately resolved by switching Monitor 1 from Display Port to HDMI. Mercury Transmit appears unable to output via DisplayPort after a crash, despite the monitor being fully functional for desktop UI over DP.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Was working in Premiere Pro with Mercury Transmit enabled, outputting video to an external monitor (Adobe Monitor 1) — functioning normally
- Premiere froze during editing — forced close
- Reopened Premiere
- No video output appeared on Monitor 1
- Went to Preferences — Playback
- Confirmed Mercury Transmit was enabled and Adobe Monitor 1 checked
- Unchecked Monitor 1, checked Monitor 2 instead — Monitor 2 received output immediately
- Switched back to Monitor 1 — no output
Expected Result: Mercury Transmit sends video output to Adobe Monitor 1, as it did prior to the crash.
Actual Result: Monitor 1 appears in Playback preferences and is selectable. Checkbox can be toggled. No video output is ever sent to Monitor 1. Monitor 2 works immediately when selected. Issue persists in all projects, including brand new empty projects.
Premiere Version: Issue began on v25.5. Updated to v26.2.2 attempting to resolve — issue persisted.
Operating System: Windows 11 25H2
GPU Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver v 596.36. Driver was clean reinstalled during troubleshooting.
Video Format: Issue was not format-specific.

Additional troubleshooting performed:
- Toggled Mercury Transmit checkbox off/on
- Disabled Mercury Transmit entirely — restarted Premiere — re-enabled
- Cleared media cache
- Reset preferences
- GPU reset
- Clean reinstalled GPU driver
- Full PC restart and cold boot (multiple times)
- Powered monitor off and on
- Swapped cables/ports between Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 (both were on Display Ports) — Monitor 2 worked on same port/cable that Monitor 1 failed on
- Changed monitor input source
- Factory reset monitor
- Toggled monitor color mode
- Changed monitor refresh rate
- Disconnected Monitor 1 — launched Premiere without it — closed — reconnected — relaunched (Monitor 1 reappeared but still no output)
- Upgraded from v25 to v26
Key finding: Issue only resolved after switching from DP to HDMI. It never resolved with DP. Monitor 2 successfully received Mercury Transmit output over DisplayPort using the same cable and port that failed for Monitor 1, indicating the issue is specific to the combination of Mercury Transmit + DisplayPort + that particular monitor/display model.
