.mov files filmed on iPhone only importing as audio in Premiere Pro 2025

Hi,

We're currently having a major issue, where any .mov file shot on iPhone (15 Pro) can only be imported (and recognised) as an audio track. It's to be noted that any .mp4 or .mov file obtained via Adobe Stock is able to be added to the timeline without issue.

Existing project files where .mov files were used are now in a 'media offline' state, and when forcing a re-link, convert themselves to an audio track only.

We've attempted to reset the cache, and have tried different renderers to no avail. And it's worth mentioning that this issue has seeminly cropped up from nowhere; we've not ever had an issue using .mov footage from iPhone.

Attached image shows .mov files only recognised as audio.

Thanks 🙂

No luck after resetting preferences, creating a new project and importing files, or reimporting an old project.

Try Reset preferences.

Make new project and import old one

See how that goes.

Files are uploaded to Google Drive from iPhone and downloaded to a local folder on my PC, then imported into a bin within Premiere.

The files in question are H.265, and other H.265 wont import correctly either. I can confirm I can open H.264 files though.

Specs below:

PC - Dell Precision 3581 / i7-13800h / 32GB / 1TB SSD

OS - Windows 10

How are you importing the files.

Best is to download to local drive then ingest into Premiere.
post OS and comp specs.

Are these H.265 files. Can you import other H.265 files?
