Multicam camera angles change when inserting sequence as individual clips

I'm editing a feature film in Premiere Pro 26.5.2 on Windows 11.

Many of my scene sequences contain clips made from multicamera source sequences, typically set to Camera 1 or 2.

When I drag one of those scene sequences into another sequence with “Insert and Overwrite Sequences as Nests or Individual Clips” set to Individual Clips, some multicam clips change their selected camera angle -- e.g. a clip explicitly set to Camera 2 in the source sequence becomes Camera 1 in the destination sequence. Or Camera 2 will change to Camera 3.

Resetting Premiere preferences does not fix the issue, nor does clearing media cache.

Temporary workaround: Opening the scene sequence in the Source Monitor and using Insert (,) or Overwrite (.) seems to correctly preserve multicam angles. Dragging it with the mouse does not.

This appears to be the same issue reported here in November 2024

This is potentially very serious because the camera changes happen silently and could alter an edited programme/film without the editor noticing.

    Hi @shaun o connor,

Welcome back to the Premiere forums. Thank you for reporting this occurrence with great detail!

For the team to try to better assist you, can you provide more information?

    • What is your GPU driver?
    • What kind of drive is the footage one? (SSD, NAS, etc.)
    • Is it mixed media or is single source?
      • What camera/ cameras were used?
        • Are you able to share those specs?
    • If possible, are you able to share a screen recording of this issue?
      • Screen recording helps to the team understand further context of your system environment.

    Furthermore,

    • For your system, have you run into this issue prior?
      • If so what version of Premiere?
    • Does the same issue occur on brand new, empty projects?

    Best,

    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for getting back to me.

    System
    Windows 11 64-bit
    Dell Tower Plus EBT2250
    Intel Core Ultra 9 285K @ 3.70 GHz
    64 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 (16 GB)
    NVIDIA GPU driver: 32.0.16.1060 (09/06/2026)
    Premiere Pro 26.5.2

    Media/storage
The project is a feature film with approximately 24TB of media, stored across 2 external hard drives connected directly to the PC. There is no NAS/network storage involved.

The multicamera source sequences contain footage from two cameras. The footage is 3840×2160, 24fps MOV Apple ProRes 4444 (12-bit 4:4:4), with separately recorded production audio synced by timecode. Cameras were Alexa Mini. I’m editing with H264 proxies, created within Premiere via Media Encoder.

    Previous versions
I haven't previously tested this particular operation, so unfortunately I can't confirm whether it occurred in earlier versions of Premiere.

    New / Empty project
I have now tested this in a brand-new Premiere project, importing only the sequence and associated media necessary to reproduce the issue. The problem persists.
When I drag the scene sequence into a new empty sequence with “Insert and Overwrite Sequences as Nests or Individual Clips” set to Individual Clips, the selected multicam angle changes from Camera 2 to Camera 1.

    Best,
    Shaun

    Hi @shaun o connor,

Thanks for the additional information! The was able to reproduce this issue and submitted a bug report in our system.

As the team works this bug, please proceed with your temporary workaround: Opening the scene sequence in the Source Monitor and using Insert (,) or Overwrite (.) seems to correctly preserve multicam angles. Dragging it with the mouse does not.

    Best,

    Jonathan
