New Index panel slows Premiere a lot

Since a couple of versions ago, I found my Premiere Pro to be really slow and I did not understand why.
But I just discovered that when showing the index panel in the UI, Premiere starts to be much MUCH slower, like I can’t type text without delays or can’t use the motion properties.
Get rid of the index panel and the issue’s gone.
I’m using Premiere 26.2.2 on MacOS 15.7.7 right now, might be a good idea to check the 26.3 version and see if it’s still an issue.
Cheers.

    Hello @maximeb24899079

Welcome back to the Premiere Forums. Just to confirm, are you talking about the Sequence Index Panel, Progress Panel, Events Panel or Properties Panel needing to be closed?

I did find one issue with Sequoia, so it may be worth looking into an upgrade or testing out the permissions fix here to see if that could be causing this issue also. Could we get the information on the type of Mac you have and what the Chip is?

Hope we can help resolve this issue,

    Amy

    Hi @Amy the Stuv .
I’m talking about the Sequence Index Panel. I’m on a Macbook Pro M1 Max.
    Thanks!

    Thank you @maximeb24899079

@Bruce Bullis is a great resource. He’s right that massive projects can slow down trying to track these changes across multiple sequences. If you have everything in one large project, it might be worth migrating this to a Production where you have multiple smaller projects. I believe this way the Sequence Index will only be referencing the sequences in the open projects (correct me if I’m wrong, Bruce).

    Frustrating!

We test Sequence Index with some massive projects, and haven’t seen significant slowdowns; we’d like to get a copy of a .prproj you’re using (no media necessary), that slows Premiere down a lot; I’ll DM you my adobe.com address.
