Opacity key frames not working and none of the fixes work

I just want to create a simple fade in and out for text layers using opacity key frames, but they are not rendering. The text appears and disappears without the fade effect.

I have no other effects on the layers. I tried clearing cache, rendering in/out, and nesting (which I shouldn’t have to do), and unchecking “composite in linear color”, but nothing works.

This used to work until a month ago.

    Hi @Milan5E2B
Could you share a project file with the text layers built out and the keyframes you selected for opacity? For your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, are you using the studio drivers?  Have you tried creating a new text layer and changing the cache folder location?

It’s all working the same for me, Ctrl-click at two keyframes on the Opacity line and drag the left one down to turn opacity to zero.

And/or also to grab the little Handle and simply drag to the right to create a fade up w/out having to do the two keyframes. Works in Beta and 26.02.

Issue – Opacity key frames in effect controls are not working
Steps to reproduce – Try making a text layer fade in/out using opacity key frames
Expected result – The text should fade in/out
Actual result – There is no fade in/out effect. The text just appears/disappears at once
Adobe Premiere Pro version – The latest - 26.2 or whatever (build 2)
    Operating system – Windows 11 home 10.0.26200
GPU driver version (Windows only) – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, driver version 32.0.15.9144
Video format – Preview inside of Premiere
Comparative information helps us understand more about when the issue occurs:

Does it affect all projects or only some projects? It affects the only project that I tried since the update
Does it affect new projects? Yes
When did the problem begin? Today, after the update

The issue was resolved when I reverted to the previous version of Premiere.

Give your system details, and the exact tools you are using and how you are trying to apply them ... step by step.

Guess what: I reverted to a previous version of Premiere and it works like a charm. Version 26 is a piece of garbage. It would be tremendous if updates didn’t break stuff. Thanks Adobe.

Well gee, they did completely change the working of the masking system ... and if one doesn’t learn how the new system works, one has trouble. Entirely expectable.

But if you learn how it works, which does take maybe five minutes, then one can use the far more powerful masking system in the new version. And thanks to the new one, rarely have to go to Ae for rotoscoping anymore.

Is it annoying to have to relearn the steps? Sure ... for everyone, probably. No question there!

But is the new system more capable? Oh ... yea.

    Your choice as always.
