Using the latest version of PP (25.3.0) I was working on a project containing MTS video files, and all of a sudden the next day I opened up the project, and all of the audio tracks of the clips had max volume static (and nothing else). It had been working for several days. In the audio track timeline, it displays as just a solid bar, rather than a typical bar with variying levels as you'd expect (see attached). It is like this in the editor, and also if you export the video.

I messed with this for hours, including contacting Adobe Support Chat for about an hour. They weren't able to help. They left me with suggesting that I make sure all of my Windows updates were in place. I did that and still nothing. I messed with my video card drivers - making sure they were on the latest version, etc. I downloaded the AC3/AC4 codecs from the other Adobe post talking about MTS files not working in the latest version of Windows - that didn't help. I also have cleared cache several times, and I tried re-insatlling the latest version of PP.

If you open the files by themselves in Windows, they are fine. The audio is normal. They work fine in MS Clipchamp. They also work fine an older version of Premiere Pro that I downloaded (24.6.5). So, theoretically, I could start over and do this in 24.6.5, but I'd prefer to continue working in the latest version. I'm sure this is codec related or something, but I have hit a brick wall.

Has anyone else had this specific issue, and have you found a solution? Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I'm using Windows 11, and the audio from my video camera sounds like noise. I tried opening it in Adobe Audition, and the result was the same—it still sounds like noise. My current workaround is to convert the audio using another application. However, this problem didn't occur in previous versions [of Adobe software]. I hope Adobe can provide a solution for this issue, as it's quite urgent. The camera I'm using is a Sony PXW-X70, and the format is MTS.

Unfortunately, v25.2 & other previous versions are having the same issue.

today I import MTS-files into premiere pro 25.3.3 (build 84) and the sound is all noise

in all my older projects the sound also turned to noise

is this a bug in the new version ?

how long is it gonna take to fix because I'm loosing jobs and clients pretty soon this way!

Please check the forum ... there are others with mts audio issues posting You might find the answer just by looking here.

And ... when posting for help. always give the OS/CPU/RAM/GPU and specific media used, or it's pretty much something we'll have to ask for before we can help.

1. With version 25.3.0 update I have heavy static on MTS extension files.  Any other extension is OK.

I have to convert files to MP4 in PP version  24.6.5 and then use that file in PP 25.3.0.

2. Also, I notice a green square in front of each sequence name.  on the timeline. Does anyone know what this is?

1. The latest update broke something with the MTS extension, the issue has already been flagged several times.

2. That's the sequence label, it's a new feature to make it easier to quickly see it. If you don't use labels, you can turn it off from the wrench menu.

I know I'm not the only one experiencing this issue, but I wanted to lodge my complaint and concern in this community forum because it took me a while to even discover it's not a 'me problem'. ALL of my MTS files are being imported with static sound. The only thing that works is converting the files to MP4 and as someone who edits large files every week it's just not sustainable. In summary, here is what I tried: changing audio to default, Uninstalling Premiere Pro, updating my system, and clearing my cache files. Restating my system, renaming files... nothing works other than file conversion, and this option is inconvenient on multiple fronts.

Update: I downgraded the app to a previous version and was able to import files with audio...

Watch out for the MTS files losing their audio or they might go to static.  We need a fix please.

Mod note: Post was branched and moved to the bugs forum. The title was changed.

To get around this problem, I load the MTS files into Adobe Audition and record them as an audio file, which I can then replace in Premiere; I noticed that this problem does not occur with small files, but with 10-minute files the sound jam out after the import.

Hey there,

Today I opened my project file and am having all the footage from one of our cameras playing back with completely clipped static audio. The files play properly off the harddrives, but the issue is consistent across all project files and harddrives, and with the same camera. The camera in question is a Panasonic AC-160. We shot our projects on two of these cameras, and have had no issues with any audio until today. The second AC-160 we are using is showing no issues, and the files when played from the harddrive have no corruption.

I've reset my audio/media cache, re installed premier, and has had no effect on the problem. When I try to re-import the clips they repeat with the same issue. I'm about to format my computer and re install, but just waiting for my files to copy onto a harddrive.

Using Version 25.3 with a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), Apple M1 Pro with 32gb of memory on Monteray 12.7.4.

Attached is a video of whats happening. Any help here?
