P: No longer able to use "ctrl+\" to hide program title bar in Windows after 26.5 update.

Good day,

I am no longer able to use the default "ctrl+\" shortcut to toggle between show/hide program title bar in Windows after the 26.5 update.

Please can someone assist?

I have tried restarting the PC, changing the keyboard layout, searching for the setting in the Keyboard Shortcuts Menu as well as clearing the cache.. Nothing is working!
Please can someone assist?!

yes i miss this too. I have used that shortcut for the last 14 years and it would be great t have that back. The same shortcut still works in After Effects

    i’m on:

    AE 26.5
    Premiere 26.5.2

    windows 11 - build - Windows 11, version 26H2 - 2026-10 Security Update (KB5127648) (26300.9711)

it’s the same as everyone else here. Premiere looks wrong with the weird menu bar! It’s distracting. If you can fix it that would be great.

    sincerely

@matthew_dotco Thanks for updating the post with those details and screenshots, plus your setup.

Good to hear it still works in After Effects! Did you see too that if you really want, you can go back to v26.3.2 as a temporary workaround until engineers can get this fully investigated/fixed?

Will update this post once that fix or another update becomes available.
    Appreciate it,
    Katie

Thanks! I’ve just wound back to v26.3.2 - could you possibly let me know via this thread once the fix is ready to go?   🙏

    Dear Adobe Support,

I am writing to complain about the Ctrl + \ shortcut no longer working in Premiere Pro 26 on Windows. This shortcut is essential to my workflow because it allows me to hide the application title bar and window borders while working across two monitors.

Pressing the shortcut produces no response. The command is also unavailable in the Keyboard Shortcuts menu, leaving me unable to restore or reassign it.

This loss of functionality disrupts my editing workflow. Maximizing individual panels does not solve the problem, and reverting to an older version should not be necessary to regain a basic workspace feature.

Please investigate this issue and restore the shortcut. I would appreciate a clear response confirming whether this is a known bug, whether a workaround is available, and when a fix can be expected.

    Regards,
    Sabina

Just updating and alerting that a report has already been made and is currently being investigated by the engineering team. You’d have to scroll way down but it is present there, as this is now a merged post based on the original. Tried to link below a more direct way to see it:

If you are finding this post, please add your details like if using Mac (what chip/type and macOS) or Windows (11/10?) and which version and build of Premiere, to add to the ongoing report.

Will update with more information once that becomes available and appreciate your patience!

Will you resolve it in good time, or we’ll have to wait for Premiere version 29-30 in 3-4 years? I’m being sarcastic, but also afraid this maybe actually happen. Adobe is unpredictable, and a bit of a joke sometimes.

I have the same problem since the update 26.5, had to go back to 26.3.

As I read the replies, I can see that Adobe is not aware of that shortcut, serisously…
I’ve been using this for 10 years and for mysterious reasons, they just take the worst decisions when it comes to UI. As usual.

Installing older versions doesn’t work either.

There’s gonna be a mass shift to capcut. This sucks

Stop constantly updating the program—there are so many bugs in the code, and the updates just make it impossible to use. You’re not making the program better; you’re just multiplying the bugs and problems with every new update! We don’t need new features—we need stability!

Why did you remove the option to hide the top bar? Please bring it back, or tell us how to hide it.

It may be a shortcut change or a bug in the 26.5 build rather than the command being completely removed. I’d check Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and search for “Maximize App Window” to see whether the command is still available and has a different shortcut assigned.
