whenever i transcribe my timeline and then cut something out of my timeline, the transcription doesnt follow. I look at it and its all off.  like when i hit play on the timeline, the transcription is showing something totally different then what I'm hearing on the timeline. I swear the transcription used to travel with you when you cut stuff out. Premiere version 25.4.1 (Build 3)

@rachelcenter,

I hope it sticks! That's great news.

I agree this is fixed. I tested a duplicate sequence, since that is the only condition where I could replicate it.

@rachelcenter, I hope you weren't affected by the whole 25.6.0 project craziness. Has 25.6.1 sorted your issue?

@Fokse, your issue also appeared to be something more than just a duplicate sequence. Has 25.6.1 fixed this for you?

I'll note that whenever I update the version, I reset all preferences, cache, and plugin loading cache, and create a new project for testing. Some bugs/issues may not be resolved in an existing project or with existing cache files.

Updating Status to Fixed in 25.6.1

Hello,

I just followed this thread because I just got the same kind of problem editing a multicam sequence to work on a reel. I was making a cut (video + audio) in my timeline to remove some unwanted stuff but the transcription was out of sync.

So, we have to wait for the next stable release from what I just understood there, right ?

Transcibe / Transcription only works a couple mins at a time. Stalls while making cuts in the timeline, does not follow the marker or update consisntely as changes are made to the timeline.

Requires closing the project and reopening to re-set it. Will work for five-ten minutes and then stall again.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been running into a recurring issue with automatic transcription in Premiere Pro.

When working on a project that contains multiple sequences, Premiere often “loses” the link between the transcription and the actual content of the sequence.

Here’s what typically happens:

  1. I open my project and start editing.
  2. I duplicate a sequence that already has a transcription. In this new sequence, I replace the main video clip with another one — which should obviously have its own transcription.

The problem is that Premiere keeps the old transcription from the original sequence. It won’t update or re-generate the text, even after removing and re-adding the clip.

The only workaround I’ve found is to completely close and reopen Premiere Pro, which forces the transcription to refresh.

Is this a known bug? Or is there a way to manually force Premiere to update the transcription without restarting the software?

Thanks in advance for your help,
— Sébastien

Hi @Sebastien35330504q8og - This issue has been fixed in Premiere Pro beta version 25.6.0 build 74 and later. The fix will be included in the next stable release, 25.6.0. I will merge your post with the primary thread.

I am an editor for social media; as such I make daily videos that required captions. Prior to this version of Premiere, my workflow was pretty simple with auto-transcribe turned on:

1. Duplicate the previous video's sequence.

2. Delete the video in the new sequence.

3. Replace it with the new (auto-transcribed) video.

4. Look through the transcript.

5. Edit the transcript.

6. Export.

HOWEVER, with this updated sequence, I'm coming across two issues:

The first issue happens in step 4 ('Look through the transcript') - now, when I look through the transcript, it is still showing the transcript from the previous video that has been deleted. To fix this I need to duplicate the sequence; the transcript in the new sequence matches the video, and I can thus continue to step 5 of my workflow ('Edit the transcript').

Here is where I run into my second issue: When I make any edits to the transcript and click out of it, those edits automatically revert back to the original text, essentially undoing all my changes. To fix this I have to close Premiere and re-open it.

As you can see I have fixes to these issues, but they still are an interruption to my workflow and are new issues that were NOT present before the update. Hopefully because these are relatively minor bugs they are relatively easy to fix. Please let me know if you have run into similar issues. Thank you

My specs:

Premiere version number - 25.5.0

Computer - Mac Studio (2023)

Chip - Apple M2 Ultra

MacOS - Sonoma 14.5

Hi @matiasb44119112

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and thank you for reporting a problem.

There is a known bug where the Transcript panel is not updating after duplicating a sequence (see thread here) and a fix for this has been implemented in the Premiere Pro Beta version 25.6.0 Build 74 and later, if you would like to test it out. This fix will be included in the next stable release 25.6.0.

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani

Basically, when working within a sequence using clips that have been transcribed, if I remove a clip from the timeline or if I replace it with a different clip, in the text window, the transcript does not change. If I click words from the removed/replaced clip, it takes me to where that word in the transcript *used to be* in the sequence. So far, the only way I can get the transcript to update properly is through a restart of premiere.

Hi @doobysquish,

Sorry you've been experiencing issues. A few questions:

Is this a regular Premiere Pro project or is it a Productions/Team project and have you noticed this with other projects?

Does this happen when you make cuts or trims as well or only when removing and replacing clips? Does it update at all if you close and reopen the Text panel?

What kind of media files are you working with? Are these nested clips or multicams? Where are the files stored and where is the project being saved?

Sorry for the frustration,

Dani
