transcription still crashing latest version of premiere version 25.1.0 build 73. Can this be fixed? This was happening on the first release of pemiere 2025 and i think a really late version of premiere 2024.  Mac os sequoia 15.1.1, Apple M2 Ultra, 128gb ram.

mod edit title for clarity

I am having the same or at least a similar issue. I'm using Apple Sequoia 15.3.1. I am using Premiere Pro 25.0 build 61 and whenever I try to transcribe it uses up to 100GB of RAM and then crashes. Another editor is working on the same Productions file and does not have this issue. Thanks!

I'm having same issue recently - Premiere crashing whenever I try and transcribe anything - in multiple projects. In some cases its worked going clip by clip, but even that doesn't always work. Have tried static transcripts too, still crashing. @Kevin-Monahan has there been any progress on identifying/fixing this issue? Thanks

I've been having this same issue for months now where Premiere crashes every single time I use the transcription feature. I've uninstalled, switched to and from beta, updated to latest version, and tried pretty much everything; yet every single time I use the transcribe feature Premiere continuously crashes. I've had to re-open Premiere 20+ times on some projects and continuously hit Cmd+S every second so that when it crashes, the latest transcription is saved.

How is there no fix for this yet?

02 de Feveiro de 2025, não consigo utilizar o recurso de transcrever vídeos no Pr. o tempo estimado continua a aumentar e o progresso nao acontece e o Pr ainda trava.

Just to add it finished doing one then crashed. Then I re-loaded and it was complete and carried on transcribing the rest one by one.

Today new project and imported MOV rushes. I transcribed them all. Then I added to a sequence and syncd all the MOVs (37 of them) with the audio WAVs which are seperate files.

I then duplicated the timelines 10 times. I went to the Text panel and it opened a text panel and a panel called UXP Panel 3 - no idea what that is! Nothing in that panel. Went to the text panel and it asked me to transcribe the WAVs and I said yes. After a minute it crashed.

Reloaded up Premeire and asked me to transcibe 19 wav clips (the others were done) I cliecked yes and it crashed again.

My workaround was to transcribe it clip by clip.

It needs fixing and wastes so much time if you don't know why it's doing it!

Thanks

@Stan Jones Indeed, the project can be opened in both versions, are there any knows issues going back and forth?

As the beta eliminates some other issues as well I would prefer to start editing with the beta and go back if necessary.

For example using BCC effects seems to work with Slog3 footage in a rec709 timeline - in the stable version doing so clips the highlights of the clip..

I guess there will be issues if I use new features like magic extend? Can the project still be opened in the stable version if effects like these are used? Will those features then just vanish or will the project be unuseable in the other version?

I can just open the project in beta and in the stable version without conversion. Do you think there could be issues if we switch the version during the edit?

@Peter Reef,

> Is there any chance that a bugfix to the latest stable version will be added?

I am not confident that there is only one source problem, and that reduces the chances of all these issues being fixed soon. But we haven't seen posts from staff indicating where we stand on what may be one or more fixes.

I agree with your caution regarding using the Beta for production work. I would consider doing the transcription in the Beta, then exporting the transcription and import to the Release version project. You could also do this in an earlier version if you have one installed. If not, currently, you can install version 24 along with 25.

Thanks for your help @Stan Jones . Yes, as I am working on macos I looked into my applications folder and after uninstalling premiere there was no folder left.
I just installed the latest beta and here transcribing seems to work, however I wouldnt like to start editing a large documentary in a beta version. Is there any chance that a bugfix to the latest stable version will be added?
