Premier Pro hangs in Lumetri Look Browse

Hello.

I am reliably causing PP to hang when trying to apply a LUT to an adjustment layer.

To reproduce:

  1. Create new adjustment layer
  2. Edit the adjustment layer source clip in the Lumetri panel
  3. Create - Look - Browse...

PP then hangs.

I replicated this three times, with a reboot in between. Crash reports, after force quit, logged under my email.

However, I searched the adobe forums, found a mostly unrelated issue about "Auto Refresh Input LUT/Look", toggled it on then off, and now the bug has disappeared. I don't know whether toggling that on or off made a difference or just coincindence.

PP version: 25.5.0 (Build 13)

Operating system: Mac OS 15
Version: 15.6.1 [24G90]
Application architecture: arm64
Logical processor count: 10
Processor speed: NA
Built-in memory: 65,536.0 MB

It hung immediately on clicking Browse - no file window appeared.

I reproduced the crash:

  1. Create a new adjustment layer
  2. Drag it into a sequence
  3. Select the adjustment layer, and in the Lumetri panel, make sure the "Source <adj layer>" is selected
  4. Creative - Look - Browse...

All of this is in the Essentials workspace - although I don;t know if that is important.

But, if I add a step after 3 - everything is OK:

  1. Create a new adjustment layer
  2. Drag it into a sequence
  3. Select the adjustment layer, and in the Lumetri panel, make sure the "Source <adj layer>" is selected
  4. Click "Add Lumetri Effect"
  5. Creative - Look - Browse...

So, it seems to be hanging when I try to add a Look LUT to an adjustment layer without adding a Lumetri effect first, either explicitly or implicitly through adjusting a Lumetri slider. Standard clips appear to work OK either way.

Hi @Geoff Bartlett

Thank you for reporting a problem and for the information provided.

Were you able to open the window to browse at all, or did the hang occur right when selecting 'Browse...' from the drop-down menu?

Did this happen only when adding a Creative > Look LUT to adjustment layers under the Source tab, or did it happen if added on the sequence layer as well? What if directly on a video clip instead (not an adjustment layer)?

It sounds like toggling "Auto Refresh Input LUT/Look" on and off fixed the issue? Let us know if it happens again.

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani
