I just updated to 2026 Premiere and every single time I open my project it crashes before it can open. Switching back to 2025

As soon as I updated to 26 I got this:

“Adobe Premiere Pro 2026” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.”

No mater how many times I reinstall it same results, went back to the last 25 update and it works fine

I am having the same issue. This has been an ongoing problem with Premiere Pro for YEARS! Every new update for the latest version has had severe issues and they never seem to get it right or even try to fix it. Its so frustrating when all I want to do is finish my work.

When is adobe actually going to improve their programs instead of leaving everyone in the dark?

I just reverted back to 25.6.4 - much more stable!

I have the same issue! It keeps crashing all the time. I tried disable VST AUDIO and it seems to have something to do with it. But when i re enable it works! never ever a problem with 2025

Same issue here. I have a Macbook Pro M2 Max and have used 2025 with no issues. I have issues with the crashing when I try and scrub the timeline, add effects, or add captions.

    Hi @CoolRunLT,

Sorry you’ve been experiencing problems too. We need a few more details, like macOS version are you on.

Do you have any third-party plug-ins or panels/extensions installed?

Are these issues occurring in brand new projects or are they project-specific? What kind of media are you working with (format, frame rate, resolution, camera source, etc)? [You can right-click a file in the Project panel > Media File Properties, for more of this information]

Are you getting a Premiere Crash Report window? If you add your email in before sending the reports, the team can also look these up.

I’m using MacOS Tahoe (latest build as of 2/11/26). It’s a Mac M2 Max chip. Overall I seem to have the crashing issues (spinning wheel) everytime I select captions or use captions at all. No plugins/extensions installed.

Have you tried resetting Premiere preferences? It usually helps ;-)

    Hi @Myles0D4C,

Sorry you’ve been experiencing issues. We need a few more details to help, like hardware and operating system information. Please see How to Report a Problem.

Is this happening with a specific project or with different and brand new projects as well? Do you have any third-party plugins or panels installed?

Are you getting a Premiere Crash Report window? If you add your email in before sending the reports, the team can look these up.

    Sorry for the frustration,

    Dani

It’s a pretty large project, about 4GB of footage and the time line is 2 hrs long. I have the 2021 M1 Macbook, the software is up to date. The 2025 seems to be working, and I always clear the cache when I load the app. This newer version doesn’t seem to be working at all. The 2025 version does take a while to load, and every now and then it will crash because the project is so large, but the 2026 version is definitely acting way more finicky as it won’t even open up the project at all. It always crashes about halfway through trying to open.

Thanks for the additional information @Myles0D4C. Something to try: Are you able to create a new project in v26.0 and import that affected project (the .prproj file) through the Media Browser panel?
