26.2 had freezes. I upgraded to 26.2.2 as the promise was that the freezing problem was solved. (official mention on Updates). Instead, I can’t even hit the report button, without Premiere freezing. Since we have to maintain a proper language in messages, I will just say that it’s not only dissapointing but most importantly costing time and money having to once more revert to two versions before, in order to get the job done. Since 26.0.2 is perfectly working, but 26.2 and 26.2.2 freeze, it’s 100% proof that things are messed up in the two latest versions! I mention that so you don’t just ask what the problem is, i clearly stated it.
Sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue, and thank you for taking the time to share the details here.
Could you please share your system information, including the GPU/graphics card(s) you are using?
From your description, it sounds like Premiere Pro is freezing or hanging rather than fully crashing.
When this happens, do you ever see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog asking you to submit a crash report? If you do, please enter a unique keyword in the comments field, such as bestravelvideo or 34647316dph9, and include your email address both in the comments field and in the email field before submitting the report. That will help me locate your specific crash report and investigate the root cause more effectively.
If no crash reporter appears, there may be other ways for us to investigate what’s happening behind the scenes. Let’s go the path of crash reporter first if it does appear. If not, let me know and we’ll figure other methods to get a crash dump from your system.
Bug Report: Severe System Hang when Accessing Menus and Panels and Text editing feature is broken. App Version: Adobe Premiere Pro v26.0.1 and after (even on latest 26.2.2)
Issue Category: Performance / UI Responsiveness / Text Editing Broken
Issue Summary Opening any top-level menu or interacting with specific utility panels (Properties, Project Manager, Subtitles) causes Premiere Pro and the entire operating system to freeze for 2 to 3 minutes. The issue is cumulative; the application becomes increasingly sluggish the longer it stays open, eventually requiring a full restart to regain functionality.
And there’s also the issue of transcriptions. It cuts words, it fails to recognize silences or it says thare’s a silences where there is actual words or reports filler words when the is actualy a word there, the text editing feature is completely broken.
I’m using now the Premiere 26.0.0 (Comp 72), In this version the text editing feature still works, but here the subtitles beghin to show mistakes in obvious words… So yeah instead of improvement this just is getting worse on every update
Welcome to the Premiere community. Thank you for taking the time to report a problem. It would help us if you could use the link " How to Report a Problem," which provides steps to provide more information that can help us identify the issue. I know you have clearly stated what the problem is, but there are more variables we need to understand the issue better. They can be found in the link, along with information such as whether you are using network-shared storage or external HDDs, OS version….. etc.
After updating to version 26.2.2, my Premiere Pro started to freeze even when simply scaling a short clip. I didn’t experience this issue with the previous version.
Thats a lie. It still hangs. I’m on Ver 26.0 now. The newest version has this bugs as well, and since ver 26 the Text editing feature is death. Cutting words, not recognizing obvious spelling and reporting those as filler… I do recommend to everyone who need an STABLE program to go back to at least the first iteration of ver 26 or go back to the older 25.6.5 Ver. This ver 26 should be completely retired from the updates list. To many bugs and NONE are fixed.
Beta v. 26.3 (tested 5 May 2026) also freezes the same way, even if you add a single clip. For example, I can’t even click on Sequence, it’s unresponsive. Whereas, if I create a new sequence with v. 26.0.2, none of these problems occur.
