Premiere 26.2.2 won't recognize 32 bit audio and clips the peaks

This is an audio track I got from a COMICA VM 4:

This is how Premiere treats it:

This is how Davinci Resolve treats it:

It’s an 32-bit audio so I should totally get all the data despite it was clipped, but Premiere treats this file as a 16 or even 8-bit audio, clipping off all the data. This is one thing. The other - if you play it back in Premiere you won’t hear a thing. Davinci, any media player plays it back alright.

Win 11 26h1, Pr 26.2.2, all drivers up to date.

is it actually clipping or is it just the waveform? prem hasn’t ever generated 32bit float waveform cache - I asked for it back when they added dynamic waveforms and never heard back

    It’s actually clipping, correct.

Too bad Premiere is so lame with 32 bits, it’s actually the only audio format on TV and I’m constantly getting trouble with it

32-bit audio has been around for a while now and it’s crazy that Premiere can’t work with it accurately. My workaround has been to bring any peaked audio into Audition, reduce gain until I see un-clipped peaks, and export patches, but this shouldn’t be the way this works.

I had to retranscode it with a a lower volume in Shutter Encoder. All the 285 files I had. Can’t believe I have to do it in 2026

    Welcome back @AndrewTheGreat ,

I was able to repro this on a Mac as well in 26.5 and Beta. Thank you so much for the testing file I’ll be adding to the ticket.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention,

    Amy
