Premiere crashes when using marquee selection tool, select all, or Select Track Forward

Hi there,

I’ve never run into this issue before, but I’m having consistent crashes when using the marquee selection, Select Track Forward/Backward, or Select All in the new version of Premiere Pro. Just clicking and dragging in the timeline seems to be causing issues. I’m not really sure what’s happening here. Specs below:

Premiere V26.3.0 (also tried in V26.3.2)

Apple M4 Max

64 GB RAM

Mac OS 15.7.7 Sequoia

I should also clarify, the other Production was not “upgraded”, but created fresh in 2026. So I think the upgrading may have caused the issue.

Apologies for my delayed response. I’m circling back to this issue now and have received your files. Are you saying that if you create a new Production in the current version and import the old Productions Projects into it, that this issue resolves? That may be the best way to go about this, but if the issue carries over then it’s likely related to something in your timeline. I’ll have the team investigate it now that I have it prepped for them.

Also confirming that it is this tool that is causing crashes or the Select All keyboard shortcut in the timeline?

Sorry to hear about the crashing and thank you for providing the system information. Considering this is timeline related, we really do need to learn more about your timeline.

What mix of media do you have, do you have graphic elements? Nested timelines?
What resolution and fps is your timeline and what resolution/fps is your media?
Do you have this issue with a new project and a few clips in the timeline?
Does creating a new project and copying your old project into it resolve this issue?

Are you willing to share the project with us? If so, I could DM you an upload link for it for us to examine on our end. We would also love to know the email you are using to submit the crash logs so we could look them up on our end if you care to DM me that information. If you are not using an email we can try to search using the exact OS version, Premiere version and CPU name at the time of the crash, so we would just need your CPU name.

Hi there Amy,

I’m working with a mixture of .Mp4s (Sony A7) and .MOVs (Leica) and still images (.JPG & .PNG). No nested timelines, but I do have some titles as well.
I’m working in 3840 x 2160 23.97fps which is the native resolution for the media
I ran into this issue while doing turnovers. The film was edited in 2025 Premiere and as a test, decided to try 2026 to see how it performed. That’s when I ran into issues.
I did try to create a new project in the production and move my sequences over, but it didn’t resolve the issue.

Yes, I’d be willing to share the project, however it is a part of a production. Let me know if you need me to generate source media before I share it.

Is it all sequences or just that one? If you’ve isolated it to one sequence, you could use Project Manager to make that an individual Project with the full clips copied, although I’d want you to test if you’re still having that same issue outside of the Production as that could indicate we need to examine the .prodset file and how it was upgraded.
