Premiere is not putting the cache files where I've set them to go

I have Premiere set to save the cache in my D drive. I’ve had this set this way for some time and never had an issue since I did it.

Today, the program keeps saving on my C drive, in the public folder for some unknown reason, even though it’s still set to put those files in my D drive in a set cache folder.

Welcome to the Premiere community. Thank you for taking the time to report a problem. It would help us if you could use the link " How to Report a Problem," which provides steps to provide more information that can help us identify the issue. Have you tried to see where the files save in a brand-new project? Start a new project, set the cache to the location you chose, and then save it.

Is the D drive an external drive? If you happen to open Premiere without the drive, it reverts back to the default location.
