Premiere Pro 2026 Audio Markers Not Appearing in Audition 2026

In Premeire Pro 2026 26.2.2 (Build 3) and Audition 2026 26.0.0.56 Build, as of right now, Markers that are placed within the audio clip (they are on the clip itself, this is not an issue where it’s s chapter marker or something) are not showing in Audition when I use the ‘Edit Clip In Adobe Audition’ feature. I have attempted to export the media and open it in Audition, but this additionally reveals no markers. I will follow up if anything changes, but as of right now, there seems to be an issue with this feature.

xposted in questions, details: MacBook 2024, 24 GB Ram, etc.

Let me know if anyone is experiencing the same or if you have had and have been able to resolve this issue!

Thanks,

Rob

    Hello Rob!

This sounds like a frustrating break in the workflow, especially since you've confirmed the markers are 'Clip Markers' and not 'Sequence Markers'. Since this persists even after a manual export, the issue is likely tied to how the XMP Metadata is being handled or read by the 2026 builds.

Please try these steps to see if we can force the markers to appear:

    1. XMP Metadata Settings: In Premiere Pro, go to Preferences > Media and ensure that 'Write markers to XMP' is checked. If it was already checked, try toggling it off and on again, then restart Premiere.
    2. Metadata Export Settings: When you tried to export the media manually, did you check the Metadata settings in the Export dialog? Make sure the Export Master Speech Track and Markers (or 'Include Markers') option is explicitly enabled in the Metadata tab of the export settings.
    3. Audition Metadata Panel: Inside Audition, open the Markers Panel (Window > Markers). Sometimes markers don't appear visually on the waveform but are listed in the panel. If they are there, double-click one to see if it forces the visual update.
    4. Refresh Clip Metadata: In Audition, go to File > Info > Metadata. Check if the XMP tab contains any marker data. If it's empty, Premiere isn't 'burning' the markers into the file's header correctly.

    A quick workaround to test:

Try 'Rendering and Replacing' the audio clip within Premiere Pro first (Right-click > Render and Replace) with the 'Include Markers' option checked, then send that new file to Audition.

If this is a bug in the 26.2.2 build, I'll keep an eye out for similar reports to flag this to the engineering team. Are you using a specific file format (WAV, MP3, or AIFF)?"

It’s a .wav - quick note, I am on a Mac. I have found most of the things you have described, but I am not sure I am doing the render and replace part right. I can see the render and replace but it the include markers section supposed to be within that drop down window somewhere? I think I read render and replace can actually be done in two steps (or while troubleshooting this, I had seen a two-step process towards doing this correctly), but would need to be reminded of what that is.  So far no imrovement.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to any further assistance.

Additionally, apologies for cross-posting, I was unaware.

    Hello Rob,

Thanks for the update. Since you are on a Mac and working with .wav files, here is a breakdown to clarify the "Render and Replace" process and the two-step method you mentioned:

    1. Render and Replace (The correct way)

When you right-click the clip in Premiere Pro and select Render and Replace, a dialog box appears.

    • The "Include Markers" part: In recent versions, there isn't a specific checkbox named "Include Markers" inside that small pop-up. Instead, it relies on your Metadata Preferences.
    • Crucial Step: Before doing Render and Replace, go to Preferences > Media and ensure "Write markers to XMP" is enabled. This ensures that when Premiere creates the new rendered file, the markers are "baked" into the metadata of that new .wav file.

    2. The "Two-Step" Workaround

If Render and Replace isn't working, the two-step process is often more reliable for forcing metadata:

    • Step 1: Select the audio clip in your sequence and go to File > Export > Media. In the Export settings, set the format to Waveform Audio. Go to the Metadata tab (bottom right) and set "Export Master Speech Track and Markers" to On. Save this file to your drive.
    • Step 2: Import that new file back into Premiere, and then right-click it to select Edit in Adobe Audition. Since the markers were explicitly included during the export, Audition should definitely see them.

    3. Regarding the Mac Environment

On macOS, sometimes permissions prevent Premiere from writing to the XMP sidecar files. Ensure your project folder has "Read & Write" permissions for your user account.

Don't worry about the cross-posting! We just want to make sure you get back to your workflow quickly. Let me know if the "Two-Step" export finally brings those markers into Audition.

    Best regards,
