Premiere Pro 25.1 Bug: Vertical Pixel Aspect Ratio is reduced by 1%

12/10/24. I updated Premiere Pro to 25.1 today.

1920x1080 Video no longer fills a 1920x1080 aspect ratio timeline on top and bottom. It has been squashed vertically by 1%.  The image is squashed by 4 pixels at the top and 4 more at the bottom. The sides are fine.

Increasing the vertical scale by 1% fixes the issue.

This is video in a project that looked fine yesterday before the update.

Please fix this immediately. Thank you.

It is indeed working fine for me in the latest Beta. Thank you for adressing this.

Hi All,

Thanks for highlighting this issue. We have fixed this(wrong Pixel Aspect Ratio) in the latest beta builds (Premiere Pro 25.4.74 and newer).
If possible, please install the latest beta build and let us know how it goes there.

Thanks,
Mayjain

v25.3 still has the same issue. Pixel ratio sometimes gets shown as 1,0075 (1,0) and interpretting doesnt help. Its simple 1080p mp4 footage from a sony a7s3.

@Daniel302953428efj,

Imported to PR 25.2.1 on Win 10 via Media Browser. Properties there show 1920x1080 (1.0). Added to a UHD sequence, it comes in as 200% (i.e. scaled correctly).

I forgot that I had preferences -> Media set to default Fit to frame, but turned off, it comes on to the UHD sequence as 100%; changed to 200%, correct aspect.

I've suspected on some other issues graphics driver differences PC vs Mac. No idea what is going on here.

@Daniel302953428efj,

Thanks for the screenshots. I'm looking for an actual sample file, not too long, that I can download and test.

Sure! Here is a screenshot of a 1080p FX3 clip in a 1080p timeline with a red color matte on the layer below. Same thing in a 2160p timeline btw. I also attached a screenshot of the media file properties for said clip.

I am having the same issue, using MacBook Pro m1 max 32 core from 2021. When i import the same clip to premiere pro 2024 it is okay, when i import the same clip to the newest premiere pro 2025 (dont remember exact number but its up to date) i am getting the same problem as OP.

IMPORTANT: It is only happening when i need to use "scale to frame size", for example, only in 1920x1080 clip using on 3840x2160 sequence, when i import this clip on the 1080p sequence, it is okay. Furthermore, in project window, these clips with issues under video info tab says: 1920 x 1090 (1,0075), pixel square ratio isnt 1.0 as on 4k clips, only in FullHD clips, so strange. Also, i cant even use warp stabilizer on those clips on a 4k sequence because there is a warming poping up saying that i need to match pixel ratio to the sequence, whereas on fullhd sequence its ok.

@Daniel302953428efj,

Thanks. Can you post a small sample of the problem footage?
