Premiere Pro 26.5.2 fails to import DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro MP4 with two stereo audio streams — works in Premiere Pro 25
Issue
Adobe Premiere Pro 26.5.2 fails to import MP4 files recorded with the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro when recording two stereo audio streams (4 audio channels total).
The error message is: “The importer reported a generic error.”
The exact same original MP4 file imports successfully in Premiere Pro 25, where both stereo audio streams are recognized and can be edited separately.
System
- macOS 14.6.1
- Apple Silicon Mac (M2 Max)
- Premiere Pro 26.5.2 (fails)
- Premiere Pro 25.x (works)
- Camera: DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro
- Microphone: DJI Mic 3, directly connected wirelessly
Media specifications
- Container: MP4
- Video: HEVC Main 10, 3840 × 2160, 29.97 fps
- Audio: 2 separate AAC-LC stereo streams, 48 kHz, approximately 317 kbps each
- Total audio channels: 4
Steps to reproduce
- Record a video with DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro using the mode that stores two stereo audio streams in the MP4.
- Import the original MP4 into Premiere Pro 26.5.2.
- Premiere displays “The importer reported a generic error” and fails to import the file.
- Import the same file into Premiere Pro 25.x.
- The file imports successfully, with both stereo audio streams available.
Troubleshooting already performed
- Remuxed the MP4 with FFmpeg without re-encoding the video or audio — same error.
- Converted the audio to uncompressed PCM in a MOV container while copying the original video — same error.
Expected behavior
Premiere Pro 26.5.2 should import the file and expose both stereo audio streams, as Premiere Pro 25 does.
Actual behavior
Import fails with a generic importer error.
Please investigate this regression in Premiere Pro 26.5.2.
