  • Issue  After installing Premiere Pro to my new PC, when I try to add any clip to the timeline, it crashes. This is for a new project as well as the previous projects. Kindly note, I've checked and updated all the drivers for GPU and PC.
  • Steps to reproduce  Create a new project, import any video to the project, drag and drop the video to timeline
  • Expected result  it should not crash after adding the video to the timeline and allow me to work and edit.
  • Actual result  Premiere Pro crashes and when I reopen it the same happens when I try to add a clip to the timeline
  • Screen recording – attached screen recording
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version – V25.2.3 (Build 4)
  • Operating system – Windows 11 x64
  • GPU driver version (Windows only) – Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU
  • Video format  Mp4 video format
  • Comparative information- all projects, new or old

@IanB_360 I've updated the version of Premiere Pro now after trying everything, and this seems to work, although I'm still not conviced why the previous version didn't work but I'm glad that it works now and I can continue. Thanks for helping out.

@IanB_360 thanks for helping out, I'd like to mention that this on a brand new laptop and I'm not sure if there is way to roll back to the old drivers, just to let you know, the problem started when I moved from old to new laptop, I moved my projects, profile and rendered files, also note that both laptops are windows 11. Could there something in those that is causing this issue?

Also, I don't have after effects or any other products that I can test this on and also I'm not able to get a crash report, can you help me get a crash report if it gets saved anywhere else because when it crahes it doesn't give me an option to get a crash report it closes completely.

Hi @abbajpai31
After you try to use PeruBob's suggestion to choose your drivers, let us know how that goes. If that does not work do you have any other Adobe products, such as After Effects, that you could launch and see if opening media there results in a crash?

Here to help

Ian

Try older Studio drivers.

Have you tried different versions of the NVIDIA Studio driver?
