Premiere Pro Export workspace turns black and freezes with GPU Accelerated UI Rendering enabled
Issue:
The Export workspace in Adobe Premiere Pro turns black and the application becomes unusable when GPU Accelerated UI Rendering is enabled.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Premiere Pro.
- Go to Preferences > General and enable GPU Accelerated UI Rendering.
- Restart Premiere Pro.
- Open any project, including a brand-new project with a short video clip.
- Open the Export workspace.
Actual result:
The Export workspace becomes almost entirely black and Premiere freezes/becomes unusable.
Expected result:
The Export workspace should load normally.
Confirmed workaround:
Go to Preferences > General, disable GPU Accelerated UI Rendering, restart Premiere Pro, and open Export again. The Export workspace then loads normally and exporting works.
Reproducibility:
The issue was reproduced in Premiere Pro 26.3.x and Premiere Pro 26.2.2, including in a brand-new project.
System:
Windows 11 Pro 25H2
Intel Core i5-10400F
32 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB
NVIDIA Studio Driver 581.57
WDDM 3.2
Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA)
Troubleshooting already performed:
Clean NVIDIA Studio driver installation; Premiere preferences and cache reset; third-party plugins disabled; H.264/HEVC hardware decoding and encoding disabled for testing; Windows update rollback; Intel chipset/platform drivers corrected; Blackmagic Desktop Video removed for testing; Xbox Game Bar association disabled. None of these resolved the issue.
The only change that consistently resolves the problem is disabling GPU Accelerated UI Rendering.
I have a detailed technical PDF report documenting the troubleshooting and A/B testing.
