Premiere pro preview lagging and freezes

So I started editing and bessically everytime I wanna play my footage it takes around 10 seconds to start and randomly while playing the preview window freezes and if I want to change text it also randomly freezes the preview monitor. I have a week old macbook

- Macbook air m4 24gb ram
- Premiere pro 25.3.0 (a week old first project I have ont this premiere pro installation
- Cache is cleared
- using 1/4 quality

Check the Audio Hardware Preferences. Default Audio Input should be set to No Input.

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and sorry you are experiencing issues. Could you provide a few more details about your project and workflow?

What kind of footage are you working with (what is the source, resolution, frame rate, format, etc)? Are you using any effects or third-party plugins? Where is your media stored?

Would you be able to share a screen recording of the issue?
