Premiere Pro timeline audio desynchronisation, disappearing captions and sound effects, and unexpected trimming restrictions

I'm reporting a serious issue I've encountered while editing a video in Adobe Premiere Pro.

During my editing, I noticed that the timeline's audio waveform appeared misaligned with the actual playback. My voice could be heard during parts of the video where the corresponding audio track appeared silent, while other sections showed audio where I could not hear my voice.

I also encountered an issue where Premiere Pro would not allow me to trim the end of a video clip beyond a certain point.

After locking and unlocking a timeline track using the padlock icon, trimming unexpectedly started working again. However, I subsequently discovered that a significant portion of my captions and sound effects had disappeared.

I attempted to recover my work using File > Revert, but the recent saved version still contained the problems. I then opened an autosaved project from approximately 40 minutes earlier. Although much of the editing was restored, the unexplained audio misalignment remained in another section.

Expected behaviour: Audio waveforms should accurately represent playback, clips should trim normally, and captions and sound effects should remain intact unless deliberately modified.

Actual behaviour: The timeline appeared inconsistent with the audio playback, trimming unexpectedly stopped working, and caption and sound-effect content disappeared.

Environment: Windows 11, Adobe Premiere Pro (Version 26.5.1 (Build 1)).

System Specifications (for Adobe Bug Report):

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 (12 GB VRAM)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K

  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5-6000 MHz

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B760-G GAMING WIFI

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (26H2)

  • Software: Adobe Premiere Pro (Version 26.5.1 (Build 1))

I would appreciate it if the Premiere Pro team could investigate these symptoms and determine whether they are caused by a software bug. This has disrupted several hours of editing and made it difficult to trust the project's integrity. I was very dissatisfied when this happened as I have spent my free time editing my video and enjoying the process, and when this bug has occurred, it has ruined my experience.

Important Note: From my own knowledge, I do not know whether other users have experienced this issue, and I understand that Adobe Premier Pro 2026 requires a new update, however, I must ensure that Adobe is aware of this new current bug which may impact the new version and therefore may assist other users in making sure they do not experience this bug themselves or in the future.
